I haven't had running headphones for 6 months after leaving them in an airport lounge, never to be seen again.
I know I need to get some, but I just haven't gotten around to it.
Makes running very painful, especially when you get a painful song / part-of-a song stuck in your head (I'm looking at you @nzzp )
Gave up running with music 2 years ago and have never looked back. I enjoy my time with m thoughts whilst running. Although as I got towards the pointy end of the training when doing 60-70k a week, it did get a bit tedious.
I really have no idea how people run on treadmills. No idea at all.

Yeah, I get that. Def pros and cons to the music. When I did my only mara, I always trained with music, and thought it essential. Last 6 months I've learned to manage without, and have enjoyed it.
Though I have learned that most of my thoughts are pretty useless, so there's that. 🤷🏼♂️

The hours on the bike convinced me there isn't anything of note in my brain

one of the reasons I like to row - can connect to a screen and watch some sport while doing it. Also, rain and light indepdent - it's always nice inside

Went to the gym today. First gym I tried (City Fitness) turned me away - L2, can't have casuals , cos contact tracing and members need space. Fuck me.
Went to Jetts 2nd, $15, was great, me and 2 other blokes in a huge space. 2km on the rower to warm up (7:15, I'm well out of practice!), then just messed around with some weights. Agree with everyone who said they've gotten heavier, sneaky fuckers.
Then I had to wait 2hrs for the car I borrowed for the last few weeks off a mates Dad to be cleaner - filled the 1st hour doing the shopping, then the 2nd hour pushing my trolley around the car park listening to Simmons pods . Looked like a total tool, but I've clocked > 14k steps for the day and haven't done a run, so I'll take that.
Time to eat and drink

Whilst on the MTB topic, my new frame arrived today. Giant are farken good. Offer a lifetime warranty on frames. Just brilliant
Rebuilt the bike last night so hopefully out for a test run over the weekend
Goes farken good! Only a short casual ride round the streets and up mt vic and north head but felt good. Forgot hasn’t pumped up the tyres tho since last trail mission so was sluggish but still happy with how the black beast rides

walked up Mt Vic this morning now the rain of the last few days has stopped. Had to stop a couple of times to let my knees rest a little but managed to not have a smoke until after I'd made it to the top. Had one fucktard make a snide remark as he jogged past me on the downhill about being slow but I'm just pleased I was able to complete a good 90 minute walk without feeling like my knees were ready to explode. Finally getting the hang of walking with a stick most of the time, but it's a huge comedown from last year where I only needed the walking stick after a day at work. Looking forward to buying a reasonable bike and tikitouring around the greenbelt.

@Bones
I let it bother me for about 15 seconds then got back to enjoying the walk. I have really missed Wellington, so being able to just enjoy places I knew of old is way beyond the ability of some self-entitled shitforbrains (who probably spent more on the looks of his gear than performance warrants) to mar. He's probably not a Wellingtonian anyway, judging by his attitude on the path.

Good workout this morning and glad to see a couple of hotties who have turned up at the new location as thought we may have lost them.
Should get a decent 5 sessions in the gym this week, aiming for the early mornings. Run on Tuesday night and some MTB friday or Sat

it is amazing how the presence of a lycra-clad hottie completely changes the feeling of a workout

I've been quietly going about my business seeing a personal trainer twice a week and trying not to eat too much rubbish. When I first started, I was 136kg and couldn't lift a thing. After a couple of months, I have lost a few notches on the belt, ~10kg and did a 1 rm of 110 bench press which I was happy enough with as we haven't been lifting heavy weight, just high reps of lighter weights.
Easily did 100 deadlift too which pleased me as I did 5 without a worry but a little twinge in my groin/hammy prevented me from going next weight up.
Thing that surprised me the most was I did a 500m row 1:36 with the last 100 metres at a stroke rate of only 1:40-1:45.
I'm still no where near what I should be but without trying to do anything in particular apart from get fitter and slimmer, I was happy with the results.
Was a good day and I'm glad my PT suggested we check out my top lifts

this, right here, is how you win. Slow and steady.
Now if only i didn't enjoy beer and food so much ...
I haven't cut back on the beer as I didn't want to walk round feeling as though my throat had been cut. Basically I just cut out all junk food and cooked/prepared every meal I ate.
It's only a start as I really should be between 100 and 110 so a looooooong way to go but I feel much better for it.

I've had to. Pretty strict about no drinking during the week. The first year I had beer on tap in my house, I put on 10kg. Don't regret it for one moment, but fark, it can do some damage.
Also, brewing is
a greatthe best hobby.
