@kirwan I think yuo're right, but let's see. From a couple of hours ago, my first reaction:

Prediction: no accountability for anyone in this system either. It'll be a 'sorry, we'll try better next time'. Unbelievable.

@Siam we were not in L4 lockdown then, so isnt comparable IMO, these people are in managed isolation, so different.
I agree in part with @Kirwan but I also think stopping some of those determined to get out, means we are for all intents and purposes locking them in thier rooms, which if it needs to go that way, then fine, but I think making an example of these 2 idiots would go a very long way to ensure others are not as quick to try to escape.

@taniwharugby send them back from whence they came. We need to draw a line

We can't do that though right. A kiwi comes home from working in the UK and commits murder on Day 3 doesn't get sent back to the Midlands. We have to prosecute citizens under our law.
If suggest we go waaaay harder than a $2.5k fine. This is a willing act of law breaking that knowingly puts our entire population and economy at risk. I'd suggest 30 days detention and at least $10k fine.

You're on the right track. Add in 20 lashes and 30 days hard labour

Oooh, lashes, I like that. What about giving up your 1st born, or for the unmarried, invoking jus primae noctis (yes, I had to google for the phrase)

Pretty sure they can revoke his citizenship if he's a dual citizen and then deportation would be legal.
Edit: Taken from govt.nz
If you are a citizen by grant
The Minister can take away your citizenship if:
you got citizenship of another country and voluntarily acted against the interests of New Zealand

Yep, limited to dual citizens though obvs. Which is me actually so I'd better be careful!

Yeah - pretty angry about that.
As I'm seriously considering flying from NZ to the UK, settle my affairs there, and flying back. If shitknuckle fuckheads like this continue their fluffybunnery, then I'm expecting a two-week sojourn in fucking Whenuapai, and I'd understand. -

Too close to me, just put a wall around Christchurch and put them there.
