Black Lives Matter

Another fine explanation of what we can see but can't quite understand. Well researched, objective and some clarity from a man who used to proudly support blm.
One excerpt: 94% of police killing unarmed people are males. That's highly disproportionate of the population. Are the police overtly sexist too?
Anyway, Coleman makes many points grounded in reality.

Obviously there need to be more people within the Black(made sure I capitalised the B..) community coming forward and denouncing their own racism.
I just want to know how long anyone thinks that will take?
Itβs ok, they have a 400 year window. Apparently.

@Bones Aussie woman shot in Minnesota last year after she called police and then ran out to greet them. That sort of thing I guess.
Also there are some feral sheilas out there...Edit : sorry should clarify, it's the sex of the person shot by the police. The inference being that black victims comprise 35% yet only make up 16% of the population, ergo cops are racist. Yet the same comparison suggesting cops must be sexist too doesn't hold water.
We know that men commit more violent crime than women but we're not allowed to say that black men commit more violent crime than other races
There have of course been female officers involved in shooting unarmed civilians.

Why can't you say it? I think this is one of the myths which is out there - that people can't say facts. I do find whenever in a discussion, that when you point out facts, they are generally accepted as long as pointed out in raw form. Either that or everybody thinks I'm a racist and isn't prepared to say so ...
As I've said many times about London knife crime (on here and in person to colleagues, friends etc), it's mainly black victims which is highlighted, but it's also mainly black perpetrators which isn't. Additionally, the below 3 points together make one salient point.
- Areas of North & East London are the highest knife crime areas in the city & these area's have a higher proportion of black residents than pretty much so all boroughs in the UK
- Due to the knife crime, the police have additional resources dedicated to on the ground policing, random stops etc.
- This in turn means that Black people are stopped more often as this is where they live.
If people want the racial profiling statistics to drop, then the knife crime in their areas must drop. Don't commit crimes, don't have trouble with the police.
I don't like Ben Shapiro much, but he's damn right when he says facts don't care about your feelings.

Tweet your post and tag all the work colleagues you can think of - that's why

@Siam Why on earth would I use twitter?
If people spent more time in the real world, and less on twitter, they would quickly come to the conclusion that it's actually not a bad place to be, and not full of complete morons!
I will happily say face to face to anybody, and I mean anybody, what I wrote above.

I used to think that was an insult. However, these days I just think it's an insult.

In those London areas were the number os black people are disproportionate, along with knife crime another thing is also disproportionate and that kislevels of poverty. It would be a good day when we could set aside the identity conflation and look at the real issue.
Edit: That is not having a dig at your view MR nor refuting the facts as stated BTW.
-
@Catogrande Yes, and that's where the circular argument comes in and the blame games start, and suddenly we are deflected once again from tackling the issue.
-
@MajorRage I've never been on twitter. I just have the impression that if you said that face to face to about a dozen faces at work, your life would change a bit.
I'd be delighted to be proven deluded (again).
And I find no fault with what you wrote.

It's all about presentation.
Street / Knife crime is high in certain areas of London which have a larger Black community - no problems
Street / Knife crime is high in certain areas of London BECAUSE they have a larger Black community - big problem
Areas of London with higher knife / street crime should have extra policing - no problems
Areas of London with larger Black communities need extra policing due to the extra street / knife crime - big problem
Police should profile street kids / groups for extra random searches as stats are clear they are more likely to carry knives - no problem
Police should profile black street kids / groups for extra random searches as stats are clear they are more likely to carry knives - big problemIt's not about being deluded, it's about looking at a situation as opposed to being in it. Politicians etc won't say the facts for various reasons, but almost all on the ground have a different point of view.
It can be seen anywhere, even on here. An earlier chat up this thread was about the Olympian who basically claimed racial harassment etc after they fled from the police. My position was always clear, that once you choose to flee from the police, all bets are off, you lose your right to complain. However, the conversation was predominantly around whether or not they were racially profiled. To me, that became irrelevant once they fled from the police. However, because of BLM etc, it didn't.

About 10 years ago I did an OU history essay on the start of the 1st World War in NZ & linked to primary sources showing NZ's concern about German antipathy to the Samoan culture.
I was marked down by my tutor and told not to use any facts which "showed colonialism in a good light"
I'm a racist too...

But too many Equality & Diversity Officers in Universities, Government and Local Councils would lose their jobs.
