@Virgil yeah, i still prefer to read a book, and they have got obscenely expensive, even for a paperback.
I have all the ASOIAF in hardback, picked them up one at a time via Amazon a few years ago. Wasn’t cheap! But they are much more impressive in Hardback rather then paper back. Fire and Blood I grabbed via Mighty Ape on sale not long ago, think it’s was only $15.
Still a couple other books to get which I’ll also grab in audible too.George has made plenty of $$$ me that’s for sure

@JK I'm not sure if they do an abridged version of his books, but they do for some other books...
Actually, listening to the No Such Thing As a Fish podcast, they talk about some audible book site where they basically condense heaps of books into 15 min summaries...not sure you want to go that far haha...I'll have to find the name.

i saw the ads for that, it infuriated me!! As if the world isn't dumb enough, lets condense books down to a 15 minute thing you can listen to!
seriously, we have access to more information than at any time in human history, and yet people was to actually read less.

You join audible for around $12 - $16 per month but that entitles you to 1 free book per month.
That seems expensive for one book.
The books are rrp for around $40 each...
Many others average $20 - $30 eachSo you pay that to join and then have to pay $20-$40 per book?
Sheesh, I'm glad I read and don't listen to audiobooks.

Sort of, you do get 1 free book per month and I believe the other books are discounted.

I wonder if he would have hated Rise of Skywalker? We might have been in agreeance on Star Wars for once.
On GoT, I actually feel no urge to rewatch it (maybe just to fast forward to all the good nudity ) like I do with the shows I rate really well. I don't know if that's a time thing though, it ended fairly recently, or just a fantasy thing ... although the early seasons were less fantasy and more politics so they could be rewatchable.

I'm currently reading the books. Got em on Kindle so it has merged all 5 books into one which physiologically makes it a tough as you don't feel like you are making much progress. Have got 69% of the way through.
They are freaking awesome though.

Might need to start a new thread but thought I would resurrect this one for fun.
So. Whaddya think of this prequel stuff?
Decent baddie, titties, plenty of violence, dragons......
Boxes all ticked. Sit baack and see if they can stuff it up I guess.Good enough, the initial few minutes were awful.
Smash the patriarchy voice over
Girl flying dragon, but nothing wow (although some good views of KL)
Silly banter, with K Guard, not realistic gritty like start of GoT
Then pregnancy is the real battle, real heroes bit (Producer said in interview 50% survival rate for childbirthing mothers in mediaeval era FFS what a moron, humans would've died out!)
Then King is all OK with his daughter turning up late, more bantery shit. But after that it improved, so if you can put aside the core message of smashing the patriachy and how Valyrians (like elves) are now black, it should be good. Especially as Corlys is an excellent actor! I'm already rooting for Daemon as Hightower is a complete fluffybunny. Rhaenyra is a spoiled brat. Daemon has some personality, even if he's a nutjob
EDIT: Might as well leave it in this thread, I mean the Star Wars one is from Ep 7!

I've read the book, and I think it is supposed to keep pretty close to it. So I know what happens, pretty much. If you've not read the book, I'd be interesting to see what people think
- who goes on what side?
- who marries who?
So this is based on a book with an end? That's promising.

Yeah, and Martin is being a tighter with what he allows, compared to the shit show that was post book GoT. Fire and Blood, in world written for latter Valyrian kings by a Maester as a history. Has two different main contributors in it, a maester and a dwarf Jester called Mushroom. Their interpretation of events is very different! ASoI&F is imperfect narrator cos it is each PoV characters chapter, how they see it. Fire & Blood is written to fluff up of history for a then current King, I can't remember who but he wrote prior to Robert's rebellion (and was still alive when that happened). It will be interesting to see which PoV the show runners take, or they could take a different view - as the history is imperfect. Admitedly it is a while since I read it so the details are fuzzy
There is supposed to be a follow up Blood and Fire. I just wish Martin would get on with WInds of Winter!
From Wiki:
"Heirs of the Dragon": Being about 17,000 words long, it focuses on the reign of Jaehaerys I Targaryen and the succession crisis following the deaths of his sons. An abridged version, The Rogue Prince, previously published in the anthology Rogues in 2014, uses the majority of this text.[12]
"The Dying of the Dragons": Being about 60,000 words in length,[12][N 1] it focuses on the great civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons, the Targaryen civil war between Rhaenyra Targaryen and her half-brother Aegon for the throne. An abridged version of 30,000 words was included in The Princess and the Queen,[14] which was published in the anthology Dangerous Women in 2013.
"Aftermath — The Boy King and His Regents": Covering the first few years of the reign of Rhaenyra's young son Aegon III, when the realm was ruled by Aegon's regents. According to GarcÃa, it is "almost as long" as The Dying of the Dragons in total word count.[12][9] -
OMG I watched this with my pregnant wife last night and she was horrified at the birthing scene. Far out, I think I have scarred her slightly and we are only 1 month away from having our first born. YIKES.
Full on episode, I thoroughly enjoyed it nevertheless.

Full warning, in the interview where the director made his claim that mediaeval childbirth was a fifty fifty survival rate for mother's, he mentioned that there was a lot of it in the series, each birth with a different 'theme'. So, maybe wait a bit too watch 😆
