Coronavirus - UK

@MiketheSnow went crabbing with the family in West Mersea on Sunday. Fuckers down the pier had no idea what social distancing was.

I'm concerned. As of yesterday 800 or so cases(going up) and 38 new deaths, 83 the day before. When big mike said UK is heading into lockdown again I don't think he's wrong, it certainly feels like we are going the wrong way. Work wise GP land or in my CCG at least we were preparing to more forward having more patients in the building for face to face appointments, and that has halted abruptly and we are staying as we are for now as it is fully expected that figures are going to shoot through the roof again, flu season prep has moved forward and is a huge focus at the moment.
As much as I'd like to say common sense will guide people, it won't, people are idiots, and they are bored of it.
It's a beautiful day here and I know after I finish WFH the local parks will be chocka so we will stay home and enjoy our garden instead. So sick of it all now.

General feeling from local folks in Cornwall is a lot of visitors are acting like dickheads. Ignoring social distancing in shops, jumping in front of queues and being demanding, arrogant fluffybunnies. Probbly the same people would normally piss off the locals in the Costa del Sol every summer.
Mini-holiday village up the lane has had to ask some visitors to leave as they were deliberately ignoring the Covid-19 rules in the showers and laundry block, FFS.

They'll probably blame the government for not explaining the rules clearly enough. That and not sending each household one and two metre measuring sticks and their own personal instructor on the guidelines.

@R-L
Local lockdowns/restrictions are the new normal. Just love the way people are now moaning the authorities are acting too quickly..

Hah yeah I found that hilarious yesterday. I've witnessed the same people blaming the government for not locking down early enough are now the same people complaining about governnment restrictions and not even wanting to err on the side of caution.
"But island group X has no new cases!"

Considering the pier was closed to boat owners only, there are a fuck load of boat owners more interested in crabbing than boats.

And the same bloke who complained that the government wasn't doing enough to protect BAME people is now complaining the government is targeting BAME communities with the new containment measured in Nth England.

Keir Starmer for one. Accused Johnson of not doing enough on BAME deaths a month ago. Today he and his party complained that the measures were put in place without enough notice in advance of Eid.
Am impressed with Jon Ashworth, Labour Health spokesman, particularly at the start of the crisis, but Starmer has taken over his role and, I'm sorry to say, is coming across as a complete muppet on this issue. Deserves the "Captain Hindsight" moniker

This would be the same Keir Starmer that vowed not to make the Coronavirus a political issue on his elevation to leaser of the Opposition?
Colour me surprised.

Put this here rather than in the meme thread as it seems more UK related....

@pakman Read that a day or so ago. It's more about vaccine development IIRC.
Here's a mainstream UK media piece on the UK's vaccine efforts...
"I Teach At Oxford, But I Don’t Want It To Win The Coronavirus Vaccine Race
The story will be clear: China, once again, has unleashed a threat to civilisation. But the best brains of the UK have saved the world"Telegraph also picked up Bloomberg Opinion article. And Times commented there on.
