@mariner4life get on to Panhead Supercharger from uncle Dan's. Better than Tuatara APA(bit of an OG beer now and there easily better NZ beers we can get in OZ now.

If you can get it try some Deek Creek. It's been turning up in Dan Murphys regularly. As has Good George in Squealer sized bottles.

love Panhead beers, but I'm suss on NZ imports as they are always getting on a bit unless you pick it up as soon as it comes in

The big benefit to cans. Doesn't have the UV light issue like glass.

Dans has been my go-to, but I've just cottoned on to how good the beer selection at First Choice is, and i have switched. Dans still better for wine though i reckon

My Dan Murphy's is quite large and I'd estimate almost 70% of the footprint would be wine. Spirits would be larger than beer too.

I've finished the last 2 of those aforementioned beers

    Dangerous

It tastes very good, has sessionability I reckon, as it's not heavy to drink. But at 7.5% kicks you in the head

If you drink those side by side it's astonishing how much better the former is. It could be argued the Tuatara Pilsners are better than Panheads though.

@Bovidae never been a huge fan of Armageddon but ZOP is the first NZ craft beer I had over here and realised something serious was happening in the breweries there. I think ZOP is my number 1 beer. Can't drink lots of it in one sitting but it's still my favourite

The Panhead guy used to be head brewer at Tuatara before he went out on his own. I guess he would have had to change some recipes that he would have quite liked and had left behind.

Had Balters Stout entry. Handsome Elvis.

Horrible. Pours like a thick stout initially and then settles very quickly. Very watery and a horrible ashy after taste.

    Aussie drinkers avoid.

@Kiwiwomble I like their dimples Ipa. It was as good as anything I have had out of Australia. Not a fan of their xpa but it's a mass-produced one and that's what you'd expect. I didn't mind their Garage Project mashup they did.

it's nice, but goddamn now Epic do this:

    IPA

    Epic Armageddon 6 pack

    Epic Armageddon 6 pack

Armageddon was the beer that started the big, hop driven IPA trend in NZ, and now the famous beer is available in 6 packs for the first time ever! The multi award winning original West Coast IPA is finally in a can, and even better - in a 6 pack! Bursting with citrus and grapefruit hop flavours!

That is a sensational beer at a sensational price.

drinking 7.5% IPAs next to the pool in the sun is a good way to get completely rolled in an hour and a half.

I think the word you look for is 'closest' rather than 'local' 😉
