I'm feeling introspective - 14 years ago today since Spike died. He was the voice of comedy in my youth with The Goon Show, his nonsense verse, and all his great books. His war memoir series is just amazing - revealing, funny, and sad.
 
Just found Badjelly The Witch on Spotify, so time to listen to that

Badjelly the witch, cheers that's a cool memory from my childhood. I think we had it on vinyl or something when I was a kid because I remember listening to it loads of times.

LOL. Badjelly the Witch was my very favourite story as a kid. Had the cassette tape with it on one side and all the random songs on the other.
 
Brilliant characters, distinct voices, always tempted to buy it for my nieces, but don't know how it would go down after their lifelong diet of Nick Jr, and the fact it's all audio.

Spike Milligan played Rugby until he was approximately 200 years old so that should endear him to a few ferners.

I was trying to explain the Sunday morning radio show to my wife, she looked at me like I had grown up in the 50's. Its funny how different NZ and Europe must have been in the 80's and how the gap has closed nowadays.

Not Flick the Lil Fire Engine nowadays - primarily book readings - with a Kiwi bias. Bloody good stuff say I. Followed by Country Life on a Sat. What better way to start the weekend than a couple of kids stories and then pasture growth rates in North Canterbury?
