Maybe not to everyone's taste but did this today served with French beans done in garlic and parmesan. Was bloody yum.

Son got me "Tom Kerridge Best Recipes" book for my birthday. Got a whole heap to things to try out over the coming cooler months.

Wife was asking me what it was about the big man that I like. And I had to think about it for a while - his recipes look nice, but are nothing ground breaking. So I think it comes down to the having a pint rule. I watch lots of programmes and try a few chef's recipes. But with the exception of the late great Gary Rhodes, I can't think of anybody I would like to actually have a pint with.

But then Tom Kerridge, absolutely would.

@MajorRage I will lay the blame squarely at Bonesetta's feet there. If I'd taken the photo it would've been a fucking masterpiece.

Nice one mate. I can see what you have done and I fully appreciate that food photos don’t reflect the awesome
    Flavour. Would definitely try that

So Friday night I drunkenly grabbed a pack of dirty ol Richmond sausages on the way home and cooked them up. I "bake" my bangers generally on a grill tray.

These left a shitload of fat behind, so I ended up using it for roast spuds today. Holy shit they might be the best I've ever made!

Budget? bbqsupplies.co.nz stock the firebird. I bought an inkbird on trademe. Links to your phone on Bluetooth, different models have different numbers of leads. The TM store ships direct from China

Thermapen are generally regarded as the best. I've had one for about 6 years, it's really good, lasts well and very fast and accurate. No major discounts though - it'll be about $120 or something. I think I got mine from Amazon UK when they were doing a sale.

If you're dabbling, you can get cheap moderately accurate from aliexpress for like $5.

OK, just googled thermapen NZ. $169. Really good thermometer
