Police are trained to shoot the largest mass ie the torso.

When someone is advancing with a weapon ( or even unarmed for example some meth addicted 120kg gym freak going towards a 50kg female officer ) the adrenaline often means they'll miss the target particularly if they're trying to be specific ( an arm or a leg ). Dirty Harry took out Scorpio from about 100 metres with a beautifully taken shot to the leg from his trusty 44 Magnum. In real life that sort of precision from only 10 metres with a glock is fucken hard enough particularly if the heart is beating at a million beats a minute.

From memory police give the suspect two warnings. If they keep advancing they get the double tap to the chest.

I don't think there is an alternate way when using live rounds. It is only shoot to kill. No such thing as warning shots etc. (We were taught that in the Air Force and I can only assume it is the same for police?)

they train cops to shoot in the chest because it's damn near impossible to hit a moving target anywhere else successfully with a pistol .

It only takes a couple of drunken minutes to create a feral and months of training to create a cop. And cops aren't usually a lifelong drain on the taxpayer.

Yeah my cousin was in the AOS up here for many years and jokingly said that hand guns used in movies are clearly very different to those in real life, as anything beyond 10m is wildly innacurate.

Well yeah, obviously they do all they can to avoid being in the situation in the first place. A cops most powerful weapon is his/her voice after all. But very soon after I chatted with said officer about Wallace I did lower myself to a facebook shitfight with some liberal greenie dickwad commenting on a mates post about the inevitable "should police be armed" debate who said the situation could have "easily" been resolved without violence.

The person who was friends with that person then defriended me after I had a go at them haha.

some contradictory BS in there isn't there...he was in a dark place, but was clearer this morning, but the cops have no proof where the shots came from....surely , if it wasn't you, you come out, you don't hole up on your property with a gun??

Shows the state of things that his family are trying to defelct this and claim he is innocent...I wonder if the cops he shot will be able to testify?

Well even if not I have an idea that the good old ballistics team could match the slugs to the gun.

They were shot with a shotgun, you don't take shotguns to a firing range very often [if at all].

Further to this: the lessons learned from assailants who are on various chemical substances suggest that even two rounds might not be enough. Particularly as civil jacketed ammo can occasionally go straight through a target with little stopping power. If they're juiced up, you might need to go again.
