Yes. Not sure what to make of it really. More questions than answers. The disfunctional family is clear.

I’m three out of four episodes in and genuinely wondering why it was even made to be honest.

Fucken weird family and I still personally reckon David did it.

Yep. If they were going to continue the program with the court process and outcomes it might have more relevance but it doesn't look like it. Whole thing is just a bit strange, from the family, to the making of the show.

Indeed. Without seeing the last episode ( still 50/50 on if I will or not ) it seems we’re left to draw our own conclusions.

The scenes with the family without David are somewhat weird in that there’s no one alive to confirm if such discussions/arguments happened or not.

Have to concur, it sounds like if the Police did their job properly to start with it wouldn’t have even been a question.

I have a mate who got to see the evidence. If you believe Robin killed everyone, then offed himself but managed to get the shell casing to end up on it's end, as it presented at the scene, then I would ask how he did that

    this is it.

    Test hands for gunshot residue

Don't burn down the house with all the evidence inside, including carpet with bloodstained footprints. Measure the feet of the deceased people to see if they fit? Maybe get actual timing of computers being turned on (rather than just an analog, inaccurate wristwatch)

It's a cluster all round, and probably the right outcome of 'not enough evidence to prove guilt'

@canefan I think David probably did it, but the police theory was a bit Lundy 500 like ... shoot up all your family except Robin, then do your paper round, wait for him and shoot him afterwards? Seems weird.

Could have made it a lot easier on themselves, probably got lulled into the fact that it was so open and shut. But still no excuse for bad detective work

That was my feelings too. Little scenes not corroborated but form an important part of the picture the makers are trying to present.
As an example they kept showing Robin sitting outside Laniets place in his van then driving away looking angry or frustrated. Are they trying to show that he was worried, caring and weak? Or that he was building up a feeling of hopelessness? Or jealousy?
I know that they are leaving it to the viewer but I don’t recall any evidence that he was regularly doing that.

It seems to be full of far too much creative license. I think the Aromoana film made a few years back did it much better.

The other thing is that when they change the character focus they seem to change the personalty of David. I'm not sure if that is done on purpose or not but when it is a David or Robin story, David seems just a bit nerdy but not too bad. Just trying to survive as part of a family falling apart. But recently when it has been viewed from Laniet or Aroha, David turns into a controlling creep.
It seems to be wide interpretations based on little snippets and anecdotes.
Only thing the programme is doing for me is making me think that they are all better off dead and if David has got his shit together after prison and faded into a quiet life then leave it all alone.

@nostrildamus was all with the same gun wasnt it? Did Robin just leave it lying around after killing everyone while he was making a cup of tea? Or did David wrestle it off him then shoot him?

I am not half as knowledgeable as anyone else here on the case but yes I think it is quite possible for someone to go crazy, shoot people, put the gun down to think or in shock or to clean up the evidence..even many homicidal maniacs would not be thinking straight...

Nope. Robin used David's gun in a murder suicide then turned a .22 on himself by holding the gun and using his toe to pull the trigger. And the killer shell casing was found lying upright on its end. David was the only one who deserved to live, according to a suicide note tapped out on David's computer 🤷‍♂️

yeah thats the bit I always found odd, you are gonna kill your family, why leave your teenage son to deal with the fallout, and obviously be suspect number 1?

Had David pissed in Robins coffee that morning and he thought, shit I'll get you...or did he think David was such a nice kid he didnt deserve to die, or did he simply forget he was on his paper-round or couldnt be bothered waiting to shoot him when he got home?

It’s just too implausible that David didn’t do it. Simple. That’s my take anyway. Surely either you kill your whole family ( or thankfully in most cases ) none of them.
