I'd seen zero advertising of the Bangles series - and the timing of the matches has put paid to any chance of watching. But I only mooch Spark Sport off the olds so no skin off my noise.

Bangladesh played their best the other night and still didn’t come that close to winning. This tour is an absolute waste of everyone’s time

except the accountants. Generates income, fills TV screens,

Cricket-wise, pretty much meh. I'm watching, but I'm feeling tragic about it

    My point exactly

    fair enough.

We've been there, though. Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and Bangladesh to us are how we have been seen by Aus, Eng, SA, India -- warmup to the proper cricket tours. So it's 'meh' but we should be playing them, and giving them teh chance to improve.

Also, they are a damn sight harder to beat over there than here. I have fuzzy memories of Vettori rescuing a test with a mammoth innings about 10 years ago

Yeah I see what you mean, I guess that’s the price we pay for genuinely being one of the big boys now.

Could add the Windies to your shit list although they appear to be unearthing a few decent players to go with Holder.

I've been really surprised how good the crowds have been for all 3 Bangladesh ODIs. People still seem to like ODIs, which surprises me a bit.

Not as boring as Test Cricket can be.....not as shits and giggles as 20/20 can be. I’m not surprised in the slightest. ODI as a format has a great history and it’s not going anywhere.

Why on earth would they schedule a day odi for a Friday???

Why not put it on a Saturday or Sunday so working people can watch it?

I am seriously annoyed that I missed it due to having g to work. WTF NZ Cricket.

If only England had fielded as badly with 2 needed to win the CWC as Bangladesh did when Mitchell needed 2 for his hundred.

OK but it makes sense to play a T20 on a weeknight whereas play a day ODI during the weekend.

I know times have changed, but still, most people on average still work Monday to Friday during the day. I suggest that they should be scheduling games at times which ensures most people can watch the games.

As it happens I missed Conways first century. I suspect he will make quite a few in his career.

Totally. It's about grabbing the fans. I didn't watch a ball of the game yesterday

Far be it for me to defend NZC schedulers, who I place only slightly above ground DJs.

But a T20 friday night then ODI Sunday would be only day and a half recovery compared to 2 full days the other way around.

But, I suspect its mostly just fitting in cramped schedules.

Its weird we have had 4 short tours with covid. All 4 squads doing quarantine. Obvious answer would have been fewer longer tours. But, I dont know what other commitments all 4 had before and after. Even abandoned or postponed commitments, still adds to the complexity.

End of the day. Theres been loads of 'content '.

    BCs 109/2 from 13.

‘They’ve got to get out of the over’ is my new most annoying one liner in cricket commentary....

    Bugger off with it.

    Thoughts on Conway caught/six?

Another 50 from Conway, but he was only mm away from being caught in the deep. The fielders boot shaved the boundary as he took the catch.

@kruse correct call IMO, shoe was against the ‘rope’

Yeah, that was my thought, but I think if we were using rugby's “clear and obvious” criteria.... it would be have to be “onfield decision stands”.
Of course, in this case... there was no onfield decision, so it was TMO's call.

Camera angles weren't great. It looked like his foot must have been touching the rope but cannot say for certain. Conway a bit lucky not to be given out.

They have a thing called a soft call, and the umpire gave it out.

Soft call is about as rediculous as the LBW reviews that are hitting the stumps and are either out or not out depending on what the umpire initially called.

A umpire making a soft call from 60m away in that situation, purely based on the fielder claiming the catch is stupid.

Anyway, the right decision was made in the end.

Ah, I did not know that... I was kinda thinking it was a weird one where there was no initial umpire's call.
Also, I am not sure if I find it more amusing, or cringey, that the TMO was effectively calling the Bangler a liar.

    BCs finish on 210/3

    Conway 92* (52)
And Young on debut, 53 (30)

Bennett playing ahead of Milne is a very curious selection.
