@mn5 Sir Sean Connery? Sir? the same one knighted by the Queen?
Everyone's a republican until the Queen puts a sword on their shoulder. At least he wore a nice kilt to the ceremony. There was probably free piss. Once a Scotsman always a Scotsman

nb regards the title of this thread, he was Danish-German-Russian, not an ounce of Greek blood even if his family were asked to be its rulers. He himself didn't feel any empathy with Greece given what the military junta did against his family.
I'd just like to thank him for support for not just the environment but also science. And for insulting all Australians. -

@canefan I do wonder if the Queen gave him a bit of quiet banter.
"That Xanadu movie was a bit of a hot mess wasn't it, Sir Sean? That and Bond might have got you off the milk round but we imagine you couldn't fit into that mankini now. Let alone a Russian accent in October or any month. As for Highlander II, there you were with a Spanish name and Lambert not even attempting to be Scottish, my husband and I couldn't 'quicken' out of the cinema fast enough. Still, we knight anyone these days"

I bet he was putty in her hands

@canefan there is a book in HRH putdowns. Those two could be very witty and cutting, even comedians and comediennes apparently came off second best.

i realised The Crown is hugely fictionalised but there were some episodes about Philips mum and it made me do some googling, fascinating story for someone so close the crown, maybe her and subsequently his story is more well known than i realised but i had no idea
I know he was known for his un PC comments but i always took it as pretty harmless, someone who grew up and a different time and never changed, undeserving of the hate thats being fired his way

Is that out there? Not seen it, and wouldn't be surprised, but I haven't looked either. Most on here seem to have liked the old bugger. When he said something I always wondered what was going to happen next. Good fun.

@sparky I was under the impression that she couldn't fly because she was pregnant? I have no idea when she is due but she can't fly after 36 weeks normally, as airlines won't allow it, ex royal exceptions aside. Throw some covid in there too. So possibly she couldn't have gone anyway, and as you point out is making herself the centre of attention, by not being the centre of attention, for something that she couldn't do anyway. Quite amusing.

To be fair to her, maybe it isn't her fault this time, and it is the Mirror spouting shit trying to keep her front and centre. It's not like she released an official statement, it is heresay from "close friends"

Which is how royal things get released, Charles does it too.
