There's quite a few songs on the trip albums which would qualify here. This band ma have a few other good ones, but I've always struggled to get into theme beyond this The River.
I really liked these guys. Cool Rocky guitar with a bit of middle eastern shit thrown in ( just for @Bones ) and a singer who sounded identical to Jim Morrison. They shoulda been the biggest band of their era. Funny how things turn out.

Are Spacehog actually any good? Because In The Meantime is aaaaaabsolutely top notch listening, but I've never heard anything else.
Same with Gerry Rafferty. Or am I just going down the one hit wonders list?
Rafferty has some bangers (Right Down the Line) and was a very good song writer.
Spacehog were absolutely one hit wonders. Not a fit for this thread.

The Tea Party might sound a bit cringe now, but they had some good songs on several albums.

I goddam fucking HATE Lightning Crashes.
As much as I hate that fucking Zombies song.
Both awful cringe songs.

I saw them at the Powerstation in Auckland, they were at the end of their tour and they sucked until the last couple of tunes.

@mariner4life Ironically, I've never really had a problem with either of the two bands you mention.
I've not forgotten the first time I heard Creed. My Own Prison was on the radio and I was driving with a couple of mates to get F & C. It started and it all went quiet, then we continued to sit and listen after arrival til the song ended. AT which point we were all like WTF was that ... totally awesome. Used to regularly listen to my own prison going across the Kaimai's between home and uni.
Nickelback ... they have some catchy tunes, everybody just needs to accept that. Yeah, they are in it for the money, but so what. As I sit here between meetings about utterly pointless shit that nobody gives a fuck about, they play huge gigs across Canada and a few other parts ....
They had one thing in common though. A massive image problem across their target markets.

All Over You is alright though eh...
I like a few Live songs
Just not fucking lightning fucking crashes
Sounds a brill song title to me. About breakup sex orgasms in a moving car while stoned or something.

The Edge discovered a wah wah pedal for that one, in other words yet another effect to try and cover up what an utterly ordinary guitarist he is.
Edge certainly isn't a technical guitarist but he creates soundscapes through his heavy use of effects. A bit like Andy Summers.
Also, Gerry Rafferty had other hit songs. You would love the bass in this song.
Andy Summers had some chops though, one of my favourite guitar leads ever is on “Landlord”.....but I do see what you mean.......”Walking on the Moon” springs to mind
Summers can play
The evidence m'lord

Yeah I tried hard to get in to the tea party but rest of album was pretty meh. Still listening to heaps of 90s grungy rock at the moment.
Been saying that for 30 years now ...
Hard habit to shake when you look at some of the shit thats been served up since!

Indeed. As we’re all in our 40s ( or some fluffybunnies on here are even older ) the chances of finding a cool new band are extremely low.

That's harsh mn5 I mean true but harsh, probably not many younger and as you say some c***s even older (bugger you found me out) , but it just about what I was thinking. I struggling to even know the bands getting mentioned, but unless they got some song that catches my attention I don't even retain their names in my brain .

Well, I’ve discovered a dude called Frank Ocean and Mac Millar did some good stuff too.......but I’m definitely clutching at straws.

Yep I find the odd one on youtube, these days. I pretty well lean towards Blues music have done for years, and only really look at live music videos. Kind of get into the likes of Tedeschi Trucks band etc, found a gig of theirs on youtube after getting into Derek Truck when he was touring Aus a few years back as part of Eric Clapton's band. Had a look found the band he and his missus (who is a tsaty guitarist anyway) had got underway, very good, saw tham at a Blues fest about 4-5 years ago and one of thsoe bands that in no way disappoint. Which is not what this thread is about, actually opposite I suppose

Can take or leave them.
Interestingly both Mrs Boo and Ms Boo Jr both lol Nickelback. MBJ in particular at 17. Just doesn't get their rep.
To me it's a bit like The Doors. You've got to like them else you're not cool. Nickelback you've got to hate them else you're not cool.

@mikethesnow The Police made some cracking music - could you get 3 more different people if you tried!
