I think some Tom Robinson humour is the best way to start a match thread.

"With Paddy and Dalts out I'll be skip again. Last time I went for the William Wallace speech; maybe a bit of Martin Luther King this time, I'll see how it goes."

    That quote followed these paragraphs:

While Papalii and Tuipulotu are targeting returns for the transtasman competition – the Blues are scheduled to travel to Melbourne to face the Rebels in their opening round on May 14 - Robinson will make a timely comeback from concussion this week.

The energetic loose forward/lock has three stitches in the side of his face from the head clash he suffered early in the loss to the Highlanders in Dunedin two weeks ago; but declared he has sufficiently recovered to lead the Blues against the Chiefs.

    Super Rugby, Sport, Rugby

Injuries force Blues captaincy switch for season finale

Injuries force Blues captaincy switch for season finale

Tom Robinson is unbeaten as a captain and is looking to history for leadership inspiration

it is astounding to me that this is a dead rubber for the Chiefs

That Blues squad is absolutely stacked. They have a supposed good coach, and a respected assistant. The Chiefs lost every game last season, and the first two this season.

And yet, here we are. Chiefs are resting players for the final.

Yep, the odds on this at the TAB would have been astronomical at halftime in the first Chiefs v Hurricanes game...

it's not if the points carry over to Trans Ta$man.

The Blues squad was stacked, but you've seen over the last few weeks how the 2/8/9/10/15 spine is still weak and struggles. Crusaders have shown how a few injuries can really bring you back to the pack.

Blues by a thowsand! Seriously, though, any win at home would be good

@mariner4life Weber and DMac are so much better than their Blues counterparts it isn't funny.

Read that out loud and it makes it even better.

I was thinking the if nothing else, the Crusaders are favourite for the final as their last game was a soft win and then a week off.. but I'm really just trying to rub it in (While rubbing one off!)

Goes to show how tight wins are the difference between media saying 'hero' or 'zero'. McMillan didn't suddenly become a great coach, and Leon didn't suddenly turn to custard. It's just fine fine margins in a brutal comp

Absolutely every team has lost to bottom of the table sort of. As someone said in Chiefs thread, the only difference for the Chiefs this year is that the small rub of the green has helped rather then hindered them this season.

Crusaders agent embedded as Blues coach is playing the long game...

Top heavy, lacks balance. The stacked chick doesn't score every night. Sometimes the fat lady seals the deal. Or, in this case, DMac.

Not serious. That would have to be a very dedicated agent and I don't think Rangi is that good an actor..

Never trust those Cantabs. Agent Deans did a great job for them as did Agent Hammett. Agent Gibson started work on the Tahs and Agent Penney finished it.

This just adds to the mystery of the Crusaders franchise, if it isn't the players, the coaches, or the grounds (as shown by earthquakes)..it must be the... halftime oranges?

It's the refs favouring them. I thought that was obvious.
