Movie review thread...

@mn5 The first was pretty good, maybe I've watched another but I get so put off when there are a huge amount of prequels or sequels etc the S word films are a fine example
I don't mind the gore I like jumpy films

The Dry
Good little Aussie drama. Plot twist isn't surprising. A bit Americanised for larger viewing audience, e.g. the town sergeant being impressed by Bana being a Federal copper.
3 and a half secrets out of five homecomings

TBF, that plays out the same way in the book.

@nepia he was a fairly new and young cop too wasn't he, and Bana was a high profile city cop, who used to live there, so I can see him being 'impressed'
Plus most American ones, small town cops hate the Feds encroaching on thier jurisdiction.
-
He's a sergeant so he can't be that new and I've never met a State cop who was impressed by a Fed.
That aside it's still worth a watch.

The Courier
Based on real life events regarding spies and the Cuban missile crisis. Good story well told with some very good performances.
Four tie clips out of five ballistic missiles.

Godzilla vs Kong.
I think the working title for this movie was Godzilla vs Kong meets Harry and the Hendersons meets Jurassic Park meets Pacific Rim meets Journey to the Centre of the Earth meets Ricky Baker and Eleven
Spoiler, you don't wanna be living in Hong Kong.
2 hours of special effects, some talking and more special effects, not enough Eiza Gonzalez.
Def wanna switch your brain off to watch this, in fact you could have a nap for parts and you'll still know what's going on.
2.5 have you not seen Jurassic Park out of 5 aww that's cute.

Yeah - watched this last weekend, and I kept thinking "this is fucking stupid - that makes zero sense",
... and then giving myself an uppercut, and reminding myself "you're watching a movie whose main premise is a fucking big reptile with radioactive breath fights a fucking big ape".Three or four times during the movie, I told myself - "shit doesn't need to make sense, the entire thing is made-up, just switch the brain off and watch the big robot fight the big monkey fight the big monster, you stupid fluffybunny".
