Ricky Gervais At Globes

@booboo Annual shindig of the American Conservative Union.
I doubt these days as many of them would laugh along to Ricky Gervais taking the piss out of them as Golden Globes audience did on Sunday.
I'd say the new populist conservative/libertarian generation would. Pro free speech, pro comedy. Its no longer just the party for stuck-up evangelicals. I've met a few speakers from the last Aussie one, Renee Gorman, Raheem Kassam, Sydney Watson, Jacinta Price all good value. Plenty of old school freedom loving Liberals switching sides of late. Pisses off both progressives and the alt-right alike.

Now NBC are cancelling the Golden Globes for not being woke enough.
The Baftas and the Oscars got their lowest ratings ever this year. Ricky Gervais 2020 Golden Globes monologue went viral and was enjoyed by tens of millions are the world.
But no, the Golden Globes must now become like the dull as shit Baftas or Oscars. Wokeness not rating or the punter now rules television.

Sounds like an attempt at a "new normal" as well as the woke crap. Movie studios are sick of how much it costs to bribe the HFPA.

@sparky quite frankly apart from Gervais' monologues, what are we being deprived of? Another occasion for the fabulously out-of-touch to publicly fellate each other?
Exactly, they don't show the SAG awards, or any of the others. Globes were clever to turn themselves into a bellweather for the Oscars. But with the Oscars tanking under the load of woke culture, that's not important either.

I used to wonder if Hollywood Celebrities were America's sly answer to not having royals. Now they're such a blended family, it's not even a question.

Kevin Spacey and Prince Andrew would certainly enjoy hanging out.

I'm not so sure!

@nostrildamus they won't be competing with each other that's for sure

Ricky Gervais is ballsy.
But I'd have loved to have seen Craig Ferguson as a host. He might have had trouble spending much time discussing the male contestants though. Or their movies.

Jesus. Made it halfway through that... not exactly funny is he? Or... anything. I'm assuming this is some sort of C-grade Late-Night-Show?
