    The Price of Gold

    30 for 30 on Tonya and Nancy.

    Well, Tonya really. Kerrigan didn't take part.

    Have to say it challenged my previous preconceptions about Tonya.

    Sure it came across quite sympathetic to her, and gave a lot of background to the trailer trashy upbringing (btw haven't seen the movie), but I quite like her as a result. Certainly far more articulate and likeable when she was at her peak than I gave her credit for back in 1994.

    Whether she had prior knowledge or not I'm not 100% convinced either way, but I'm leaning heavily (85.762%) to thinking she didn't. I suspect if there was any real compelling evidence authorities would have jumped at it (especially that DA with the awesome fake tan). The hubby, "body guard" and hire-a-thugs would make a bag of hammers look like Norman Einstein.

    Worth a watch.

    4 triple Axels out 5 1980s hair-dos (if we're scoring ike the movie thread).

    Have you seen the Margot Robbie movie?

    Given this horrendous weather this weekend I'd quite like to spend the day in front of the TV watching these (if only I could work out how to access them)

    The Bourdain one is throwing out a bit of controversy due to the way the makers have deep faked his voice to narrate.

    It is 40 years today that the Waikato vs South Africa game was abandoned. This is a short documentary about two brothers on different sides that day.

    @bovidae
    It's funny that (applying a good old bit of social stereotyping) you can quite clearly see from the mannerisms of the two brothers what kind of political opinions they had back then.

    @frank Yes. This accompanying article gives more background details about the brothers.

    @ploughboy Halfback?

    I would have liked to have gone to this game, but as a young kid my parents wouldn't allow me to, as trouble was expected.

    The Clown and the Candyman

    The Clown and the Candyman (TV Mini Series 2021) ⭐ 7.3 | Documentary, Crime

    The Clown and the Candyman (TV Mini Series 2021) ⭐ 7.3 | Documentary, Crime

    | TV-14

    Fuuuuuuck. Starts off as an examination of Dean Corll and John Gacy, a couple of the 70s US serial killers and then turns into so much more, getting more dismal and depressing as you go, yet morbidly fascinating.

    I follow a lot of true crime stuff and knew about Gacy well, but this was eye opening.

    Ronnie Coleman - the king (Netflix)

    Just watched this documentary on Ronnie Coleman. Hard to watch the great man struggle on crutches after a series of back surgeries. As he is located in the Texas area luckily he didn’t encounter Dr Death!

    Still at the gym even after all surgeries at 4.30am most mornings. Still humble just always in pain

    Seriously he was huge. Had to laugh he was upset that he only did 2 reps of squats at 800 pounds, when he was hoping for 5 reps. Then joked “well, at least I followed those squats with 8 reps on the leg press at 2300 pounds 😳

    Interesting doco, but not easy to watch , if you’re looking for something a bit different

    Yeah that rivalry was up there with Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Norton. Compelling stuff when you think top level boxing is almost a game of Paper Rock Scissors with each having advantages/disadvantages compared to others.

    Check out Hearns destroying a tough fluffybunny like Duran. Incredibly brutal finish.

    It’s encouraging to know I’d only manage two less reps at 800lbs than Ronnie Coleman but then again I am a bit of a unit.
