Watched the original Highlander today. I remembered it as being better. It’s not bad, just dated and some of the writing is piss poor.
One thing that is very much notable is that the Heather character (Connor Macleod’s SO) is maybe the dumbest woman in film. A scary guy busts into her castle and starts demolishing it while climbing the stairs fighting another bloke. Does she leave through the unguarded door? No. She stands and watches and squeals a bit until he grabs her. She practically asked for it by being so dense.
Oh, and sorry France but Christopher Lambert is not all that at acting.
Heather was hot as fuck. It’s bloody tough to beat a beautiful woman with a Scottish accent.
I’m also realistic enough to realise this combo is about as rare as rocking horse shit.
I’m not sure I’ll ever forgive Sean Connery for interrupting Connor trying to nail her in the field and showing more of her tits. Bear in mind this was awkward teenage years with no internet or women willing to show their cans and unlike my mates creepy Dad my old man didn’t have a stack of pornos.
Best not to Google images of her now though, to paraphrase @Rancid-Schnitzel she looks to have paid a few visits to the bakery lately, definitely best to live in the past on this one.

You don't think he quite pulled off the Scottish accent?
After watching this when I was 10 or so I thought for a long time that a Highlander was an immortal person not some Scottish mountain dweller.
I definitely have to watch this one with the boys and see what their take on it is.

Neither did my dad. Shit we were deprived. God those were the days. When your best hope of seeing boobies was if a screwball film was on TV and there was a brief shower scene. It was the worst when you were watching a scene that was developing nicely and then you had to suddenly change channel when a parent was about to walk in. Memories.

Haha. So funny. ‘Um, yeah mum and dad I’ve been sitting here watching Antiques Roadshow the whole time’ ( meanwhile on the other channel the hot college chicks are all together soaping themselves up but only watched by the nerds from lamda lamda lamda )

I saw the thread title and was thinking old classics like Casablanca.
Me too.
But, I did love Highlander back in the day.
I've admitted before, and will do so again, that Highlander is a favourite of mine. It has the perfect mix of action, humour and a killer soundtrack, and doesn't take itself too seriously. I've watched this heaps of times. There are plenty of other 80s movies that are the same.
Now Highlander II is a turd and I've only watched that once.

@jc I always felt it was a concept better suited to a TV show than a movie. Excellent soundtrack though.
im currently working my way through the TV series, it started with the idea The Gathering is nearing...but really its just become very formulaic, duncan runs into an old friend/foe, if its a friend then he generally finds they have bent to the weight of years and turned bad and he eventually has to fight them....if theyre bad he just ends up fighting them, role credits
I think it might work better with today 10 episode type series...with the 90's 22-24 episode series....it drags

@nepia I have nothing against him, was just trolling, I mean he's like the Rock at moment, anything he does works.
Have liked him since he was in The Tudors.
Apparently he has been signed on to a reboot for years but it is gaining traction since his star has risen.
