@bones think he brings alot of physicality for us, sure needs to work on aspects of his game but liked what he bought last night.

Yeah I feel Dalton will be the unlucky one, I'd still take Cane ahead of him. Ardie on the bench. Blackadder out of the squad.

I do get surprised people go on about our trio being too small with Ardie there, then go on about Jacobson or Blackadder - who are both 7 size also.

According to allblacks.com stats, Jacobson has 8kg on him and Blackadder has 12kg on him. I think they're both more reasonable 6/8 sizes.

What was really noticeable today was how anonymous Kremer and Matera were as compared with this fixture last year.

I was thinking the same thing watching the game. They made 40 tackles between them, but most of their forwards made plenty of tackles. However, the only time you really saw Matera was when he did that cynical infringing at the ruck in the 2nd half.

    Who is your starting 6?

Well Luke Whitelock is unavailable as is Squire and Frizzel is injured so I'll probably settle for the temporary stand in, Akira Ioane is doing kind of ok.

    S. Barrett is available though 😉

Reading through various ratings from media, I wonder if they either watch the game, or use a random number generator.

    It's astonishing.

Other than COVID vaccination info on Twitter, is there anything more unreliable on the internet than height and weight stats for sportspeople?

Even if they are, I’m not really seeing how that extra 8 and 12 kgs translates to anything more than Ardie on the actual field. Unless Jacobsen and Blackadder were storming it in attack like Lauaki or immovable rocks at the breakdown ala Jerry, Ardie’s whole game outweighs other options right now.

    AA

This feels like Weber last week for me. Some great highlights but dig a bit deeper...

Maybe just me,but I dont get the Aumua love either, especially when rating top three in a game, yeah prominant on run metres but if that is improved throwing, then we are well and truly farked long term. Neither hooker excelled in core duties and the Anton Oliver days look like they are on a comeback. Does he have a future? It certainly looks like it, but jeez there were some work ons

Akira-Cane-Jacobson with Ardie off the bench would be fucking dominant. Having Paps waiting in the wings is just an embarrassment of riches.

I was specifically responding to your comment about size from a source that lists them all, I think commenting on size with a source is better than commenting without anything. It depends what you want out of the back row, but my preference would be for Savea to play 7 and then move to the bench when Cane comes back.

BBBr, Scott Barrett and TJP. Luke Jacobsen too many handling errors for me, BB good when he challenges the line, but still hate when he shovels and stifles the line.

@kirwan I've seen alot worse throwing than what Aumua displayed on Sunday. Apart from the two lineouts lost close to the line he was perfect off about the 10 other throws he had during the game. Infact the All Black's were 18/20 in the lineout by the end of the game.

Botching two close to the line probably doesn't help his case but he's certainly no Ben Funnell, Aled De Malmanche or Anton Oliver.

It was more than two and he was only on for 46mins.

@kirwan pretty sure he wasn't if you actually watched the game closely.
