@nepia Angus MacDonald and Hale T Pole were the other loosies with Harding and Bates.

Yeah, that's why I reckon it was Vallance as Harding is the only "pure" openside out of that lot.

OK. I have no idea who Vallance is, but he's a local to you.

Yep, he's from Hawkes Bay, was a schoolboy star, didn't go very far in senior rugby although did play test and 7s for the Cooks.

Another one blocked out by those Wellingtonians in the Canes academy.....?

Not sure, but probably, good enough to keep McCaw out but not good enough for the Canes academy. πŸ˜‰

We haven't been too bad at producing some pretty good wingers too πŸ™‚ Kirwin, Wilson, Lomu, Howlett, Rokocoko, Savea, Ioane spring to mind in my lifetime. Plenty of others also.

@gt12 Learned to play his footy in NZ though. To be fair, he's more a blindside.

He'd already played for Randwick and in the UK before you lot chequebooked him as a fully grown adult. πŸ˜‰

@nepia Yes - he was a club player we turned into a test player. Didn't the Wallabies pick him directly from the Crusaders?
