fuck i love All Black fans

Not 7 days ago this site was awash with how good the selecting was, how maybe we needed to come around on Fozzie based on the improvement in play, and in players, and the new depth we had created

A week later, after a game we fucking won, and it's "get rid of the guy who last week was the long term answer at 6" and "oh we all knew this was coming with Foster he's shit"

We are fucking insufferable. Well, not me, mainly yous

F*ck me, a harsh crowd of revisionists. I suspected (70%+) this would be a scrappy dogfight influenced by the refereeing style like the 2015 RWC SF and won by a single score. It was, and the ABs won -

    • Without 4-5 pretty automatic starters depending on Paps vs Sam Cane (touch n go, they're not dissimilar)?
    • Having definitely uncovered a set of new/raw talent 2 years out from the next world cup, way more upside than the Boks?
    • In a game for sure that the Boks were up for 110%?
    • ABs playing badly by all acounts ...
    • With novice leadership?

Tough crowd. That 2013 unbeaten side had some squeaky-bum moments and brainfarts along the way. Just about to watch a full replay.

So assuming ALB's fitness, if we slot him back to 13, it makes the 'dropping' of Bridge (out of 23) less of an issue, because is pushed out by the best 11 anyway.

As Jacobson was sickness, assume he is back, so Ardie goes to 7, Luke to 8 and Akira stays at 6.

I reckon Webber deserves a start, not sure there is a case for looking good v a tiring Bok defence, they never got out of 2nd gear and with all the breaks, how could they get tired 😉

Which then goes to the bench: Paps in for Blackadder, Mounga will likely come in for Tupaea.

Otherwise same 23 I think...I cant see them resting anyone given it is the last game of TRC (unless they feel someone is farked)

pretty much but i would have richie in for Dmac and either keep quinn or have reece on the bench

seems harsh to drop blackadder as if not for jordie i thought he was almost MotM...but not sure how else to make it work

Fuck me the Boks really are dreaming

“We made a big step-up in terms of our performance last week and having reviewed the match, there is no doubt we delivered a performance worthy of a victory,” said coach Jacques Nienaber in a statement..

@kiwiwomble i think with Reiko as the back up 13, ALB can go to 12, plus they loves them some Dmac so that's why Mounga comes in for Quinn for me.

I think Paps will be more suited to a tight forward battle, while Ethan played well, I think Paps plays with a shade more size, even though I don't think there is much between them.

Wouldn't surprise me to see Havili given a rest. He has taken on a big workload this year not only in minutes but in learning a new position. I think his effectiveness was waning last week and he could do with a freshen up.
Start QT with Weber and ALB for guidance.
This assumes RI on the wing to shuffle in if it isn't working.

Why not both - Paps at 7 and Ethan at 6? One of Ardie or Akira start from the bench, probably Ardie at 8 due to the lack of leadership experience in this side, Akira from the bench.

Boks and very liklely England require a tighter game with higher workrate which both players offer in spades. If on top, bring on Akira at 6 at 50 minutes or even 40.

Worth trialling with the Rugby Championship in the bag.

Am sure that could work, but I'd be surprised if they went that way...unless Akira is knackered form his workload...but how many weeks until thier next match?

@l_n_p i get what your saying and you might be right but i'd be worried about AI taking a knock in confidence if dropped, i think id still like to see him bounce back

Workload management for Blackadder. HE hasn't been around long, and there's another bunch o'games coming after this. Rotate, don't drop.

@nzzp how many games has he started in a row? is he really in the bracket of people needing a rest? savea and AI have played more surely so they must be next in line for a rest

@kiwiwomble but how many weeks until thier next game?

Unless the player data says they need a rest, I cant see them 'rotating' anyone for this weekend.

@taniwharugby to be clear, i wasn;t advocating rotating, i was just saying IF thats the reason for blackadder not playing there are others that have played more... i think

I think that "Why not both?" meme is pretty global, I did have it in my mind!

I'm loathe to mess with Akira as well, as I have said on other threads.

Tbh if the AB's had Whitelock as skipper back and Aaron Smith too, it might not be a bad game to tactically try Blackadder (6), Papilli (7) and Akira (8) Savea (bench) But that's not reality ...

I can make a strong case for Akira being told to up his workrate and played again at 6 too, see if he adjusts. So much is about backrow balance and roles. I still think the AB's are absolutely spoiled for choice at backrow.

Can't comment on rotation and energy levels, Fozzie hasn't reached out to me (yet) 😂

Pretty certain we will see Ardie, LJ and Akira start with either Blackadder or Paps on bench. Papas if fit would be my guess.
These games are about building squad experience and depth. That also means giving players like Akira a chance to prove he can learn.

Savea didn't play in the first game against Arg (concussion in Perth) and Ioane was rested in the second Arg test. They have been managing player workload in these 5 tests. There will be a 3 week break until the USA test, when most of the B team will play. So what I am saying is that Foster and Plumtree can pick their best 23.

    Strongest team available.

It is the bigger, stronger, faster [cue the Olympics music] Boks we are playing after all.
