India make 110 of their 20 overs. Brilliant bowling by NZ. Huge opportunity for the BCs.

What a thumping! 8 wicket win for the Black Caps with more than five overs to spare.

Wonderful, wonderful win for the Black Caps. Didn't give the Indians a sniff. Take a bow!

So only the Afghanistan banana skin to get through and we are in the Semifinals.

Although the way India are performing they may also come second to them.

I was very fortunate to pick up a last minute ticket for this match and I must say that it was a complete anticlimax - one of most beautiful anticlimaxes ever in fact. I’ve never felt more serene watching the BCs play it was really quite weird. Best part was watching about 10k Indian fans all up and leave simultaneously once we got to about 65/1.

Got up this morning expecting to read that we'd lost and to complain about how unengaging this tournament has been.

A weird draw that pitted the big teams against one another immediately - well with about a week between the games - but no minnows in between. And our games at an unwatchable 3am.

Not that anyone would have listened.

Maybe the ICC will listen to a billion Indian fans though and pay a bit more attention to running a decent tournament in future.

    Who would have thought it?

We won't have three trophies in the cabinet whatever happens, but it's looking like we've sunk the might of India in all three tournaments! 🙂

Wow, just amazed we got up and won this morning. We may not have the ODI WC, but we do have the MODIWC (the lesser known moral world cup; won traditionally by minnows and teams that 'shoulda').

In this case I'll take it though.

We seem to have teh wood on India mentally, and I'm not sure how we managed it, but I'll take it. Need to sneak into the semi, and then have two good games ... we're a starters chance.

Really impressed with this side doing this. I still think HEsson is a miles better coach, but Stead has rocked up and grabbed the glory!

@nzzp We should just buy our own ODI World Cup and engrave it as we see fit! Possibly with an asterisk! 🙂

I haven't ever bought into the idea that we lost that game.

    We didn't.

we drew the game, the tournament was awarded to England.

I'd buy a replica and put it up

I saw some comments that teams batting first have struggled in this tournament

Skimming in through the results it seems only 8 teams have won batting first in 28 matches

Of those 8 wins, ~5 of them had a large quality gap between the sides
    Afg beat Nam
    WI beat Ban
    Afg beat Sco
    Ban beat PNG
    Sri beat Ire
    Ban beat Oman
    Sco over PNG
    Sco beat Ban

Couldn't be bothered looking up the coin tosses. I presume it's almost always win the toss and chase?

Huh. In searching I see Spark must have uploaded some of the TVNZ archives. NZ v India 1990 test is available.
