@crucial Nah, he is fine in the Crusaders. I still maintain it is more about the AB system than the players.

The systems don’t stop him tackling hard or putting some leg drive into his carries though.
I will give him some benefit of doubt from a disrupted season but he appears on the slide

He might be fine at lower levels but no longer up to test standard. Happens to the best.

@kirwan Also was clearly on the slide in 2019. That's three seasons now.

I'll cut Moody some slack as he had that foot injury which meant a long layoff. The same applies to Ofa. No excuses for either in 2022. They need to perform like senior AB props.

That really applies to the entire team when we play the boks and in the NH tour next year. I would imagine Ireland will be fucked when they come here on torr, their teams will be played to death in the not Heineken cup etc. But still we'll have to hit the ground running to avoid another awful addition to Foster's CV of failures

Knowler gets his crystal ball out for a potential AB team at the 2023 RWC.

1 Joe Moody, 2 Samisoni Taukei'aho, 3 Tyrel Lomax, 4 Brodie Retallick, 5 Scott Barrett, 6 Luke Jacobson, 7 Sam Cane (captain), 8 Ardie Savea, 9 Aaron Smith, 10 Beauden Barrett, 11 Leicester Fainga’anuku, 12 Jack Goodhue, 13 Rieko Ioane, 14 Will Jordan, 15 Jordie Barrett.

Not the team I would be selecting but he'll generate some clicks.

Crazy that I could, i fact we ask could, pretty much name the line up for 2013. A few blips and injuries aside they then went on and smashed the RWC. No idea will be in 2023, with Foster's fading players and faffing with positions, it's a lottery. The all blacks are so like Australia, fiddling around with positions and favourites when it's really a total tactical rethink required

@crucial The whole AB forward pack is on the slide then. Somehow since the start of 2020 (arguably much earlier), all the AB tight forwards individually started to decline as players.
Ofa, Whitelock, Taylor, Lualala, Brodie, Moody, Coles....
Poor ole Foster must be a very unlucky coach to have all these players sliding at the same time .....The weird thing is that they are fine in their Super teams but sliding at the international level.........
Poor old Foster had the same problem at the Chiefs. Luckily for Rennie, the players stopped their sliding.

I'm trying to work out which drawven (Hobbit-era) beard Moody is going for and I'm putting my money on the oldest one. Balin.

On this day, 11 December 2019:

'I'm incredibly proud': Ian Foster reacts to being named All Blacks coach

'Now it's time for you to see me in a new light' - that line aged brilliantly.

Also, I remember a video segment from RNZ where he mentions his desire to quote 'show that he is 'innovative'..

And to be fair to him.. being the first AB coach to lose to Argentina, was a ground-breaking achievement for Foz.

Also highest score against us at half time, full time (different match), biggest loss to Oz, first loss in Paris to France for ages, etc there's a lot of things new or new for the professional era that he's 'achieved'

innovating by failing upwards, Fozzie's playing the long con by getting this team to peak in 2 years time.

It's just like Hansen repeatedly assured us while we were looking like a structureless rabble throughout the 2018, then 2019 seasons, "judge us by the world cup" he repeatedly told the public, as those record losses to Australia & Ireland were all part of the grand master-plan, after all...

I think the worst thing he claimed, and didn't deliver on, was the commitment to physicality in the forwards.

He correctly identified the issue, then failed completely to bring along/select the right players to address the problem

We have played powder puff (copyright Walrus) rugby all year.
