I didn't realize he was so young. He might be one for the future but I think Cleaver would probably be next in line for test matches at the moment and Blundell is probably Latham's backup in ODI's.

Micheal Bracewell just played one of the most amazing innings I have ever seen.

Firebirds were chasing 227 and were 43 for 5 at one stage and somehow he pulled off a miraculous innings of 141 off 65 balls. Apparently the highest T20 score ever in NZ.

    @labcat

Wow. I just looked up the scorecard

Still needed 17 in the last over, got it done with a ball to spare

Was only a small ground & great wicket to bat on... brilliant clean striking from Bracewell though 😎

Yeah, it is a small ground. He would have probably been several times playing the same innings at the Basin. It was an amazing watch though as I was sure the Firebirds were going to lose after Neesham got out. With the help of Gibson and van Beek, Bracewell managed to keep us within striking distance and after the 15th over it actually looked like we could win with an over to spare. A few twists at the end made the game even more exciting especially when 17 was still required off the last over.

@labcat just watched the highlights - that ground has great acoustics, Bracewell was smoking it. Got away with some shots due to the small size of the ground, but what an innings!! The big final over kept things spicy.

At the ODI at Eden Park, Northern v Auckland. Santner just got two wickets one an over. Two! Frankly, I'm shocked

The reverse sweep has become completely normalized. This partnership must have scored a quarter of their runs with it, completely safely. Remarkable changes in technique thanks to T20

Yep one of those grounds where you only score 1, 4 or 6. Nothing else. Boundaries are way too small. Bloody nice venue though.

@mn5 lovely wee ground. Only about 40 in though,50 over isn't a drawcard.

Better if the beer tent was open!

I always make a point of having a stroll through there when up in the naki for work. Pretty terrifying to think what totals some international big hitters would rack up if given a chance though !

Lockie Ferguson ripping through them. 3 wickets in 8 balls to open the bowling.

    Northern 11/3 after 2.2 overs

CDG just went nuts. Northern were dead and buried and he and santner just fired up and started swinging. If they win, respect

CdG has hit some form with the bat in the T20s so it would be worth selecting him for the Aust tour.

This was a great game. Absolutely awesome to watch. There have been some really good super smash games to watch this summer. Much preferring it over BBL

To even lower level domestic cricket......I follow our local Premier side pretty closely as son also plays for Takapuna and a fella I know is one of the openers (when he is in NZ anyway - back here for summer ahead of the Netherlands series against our Black Caps).

T20 game against East Coast Bays last night down at Onewa. ECB off to a flyer and were 100 or so / 1 after 10 but faltered abit to only make 154/6. Taka were slow on the chase but were always there abouts. They evened things up at 154/6 after the first ball of the final over. Then wicket wicket and 154/8 with the number 10 batsmen coming to the crease. First ball whack 6! So good! Nice watch on a weds evening with a few bevvies down the park

Big game today between the Aces and Firebirds with the winner almost wrapping up third spot in the Super Smash with one round to go.

The Firebirds welcome back Conway and Blundell which will be a massive boost to their chances, especially considering F Allen has been more cold than hot this season at the top of the order.

@jk I watched some of that stuck in the traffic sewer that was Northcote Rd last night. I was really wishing I could park and go over and get closer to the action. Few things beat half watching park cricket in the sunshine.
