England team to face Italy: Steward; Malins, Marchant, Slade, Nowell; Smith, Randall; Genge, George, Stuart, Ewels, Isiekwe, Itoje, Curry (capt), Dombrandt.

Replacements: Cowan-Dickie, Marler, Sinckler, Chessum, Simmonds, Youngs, Ford, Daly.

Not too many complaints but are Ewels and Isiekwe really the two best locks we have available and why put Itoje at 6. Weakens our engine room and our back row.

The backline has a raw but exciting look about it now though. Cue Youngs coming on to close our attack the game down around the 45 minute mark...

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how Randall goes, Young's performance last game was the worst I've seen by a tier 1 nine. He killed so much stone dead by panic kicking it away.

But the answer to all the other questions is, 'it's only Italy and Eddie is checking shit out'

Yeah I think we will learn little from this game and when I say we I probably mean Eddie. We’re not going to learn anything about Ewels, or about Itoje at 6. We also won’t learn anything if he reverts to either Youngs or Ford.

    Toa Halafihi

Jeez, I can vaguely recall this guy started out at Poverty Bay about ten or twelve years ago and even spent a short time at the Hurricanes around 2015/16. Must be pushing 30 odd by now?

Just picked up the Eyeties did England six nil in the Under 20s division but still trying to find out how many players the Poms must have had red carded for a result like that to happen (Ireland under 20s rolled France 17 - 16 away from home in a good start to the weekend for the Paddies)

    Saw this just now.

Skim read a report, which I can't c&P for some reason.

Can't see mention of any cards.

Eyetie kicker missed another 2 easy kicks as well, versus England having try disallowed for midfield obstruction in first half.

    Looks like a deserved win.

    Some distant hope of improvement?

    @duluth

That’s one of the most genuinely Italian sounding teams for some time.

@Catogrande 5/15 and 7/23 sound non Italian. (Not sure which way Traore' swings, giving him the benefit ...)

@booboo There are a couple of guys called Traore that play in the A League and they look decidedly African so it would not surprise me if this one is not from there as well, In addition the number 19 played for England Under 20s and my London Irish team years ago so he could be another invitation player.

Lol at 20 Sebastien 'blacks'! Traore is from Guinea, but came over as a kid.

Surely it is Negri - who ruffled a lot of feathers in the same match last year with foul play. But, I don't imagine he changed his name by deed poll. Makes you wonder if the writer or sub-editor did it as a 'black' joke after the Willis incident... not expecting it would go public??

It's totally Negri, just so funny how it's been translated

Eddie Jones talking some shit about Ali and Liston before the game. So obviously an attempt to wind up Colt and the Italians. Eddie's losing his subtlety in his old age. He needs to try harder.

How was that not a penalty against Smith? Tackles Mori, then doesn't release and while still on the ground wrestles his leg into touch. Bizarre refereeing.

Not too sure that Ital are really up to 6N standards, but they have played well in the last 2 games. Much more disciplined and their defence at times is top notch.
