Does that mean that Cannerbry think that Ardie > Matt Todd?

Have always thought that (except for when I'm winding up a certain canes supporter) -

Can we stop talking about fatialofa as an Ab lock, he hasn't won a lineout all night

We have Kaino/Luatua and Read. Retallick hardly takes lineout ball. Our lineout has been very good this season and you could just as easily blame Coles for the fiasco tonight.
-

I don't think fatialofa is half the player Rettalick is, stupid comparison -

I'm just saying a player doesn't have to be good at the lineout to be a lock. I think Retallick is fine in the lineout, Hansen just doesn't use him there.
-

So, to be fair, neither Matt Todd or Sam Cane, was playing tonight.

So the only person Ardie outplayed was Dan Pryor given he was the highlanders 7 tonight but just maybe Luke Whitelock's and Elliot Dixon's rep takes a bit of a hit because as a trio they were well outplayed by the Sheilds/Ardie/Vito trio tonight.

Interesting that some talk up Dixon as a AB but against a similarly talked up AB (Ardie), a guy simply marking time (Vito) and a guy not mentioned in AB contention in 2016 (Brad), in a big game, he didn't stand out at all.
-

What are you talking about? Yes he does.
-

Hardly (despite the likes you have received). The facts would suggest you are incorrect.

World Cup Final: Read 5, Whitelock 3, Kaino 3, Retallik 2

World Cup Semi Final: Read 3, Whitelock 2, Kaino 2, McCaw 1

World Cup Quarter Final: Read 4, Whitelock 2, Kaino 1, Retallick 1

Vs Tonga (retallick on bench): Read 4, Whitelock 2, Romano 1, Cane 1

Vs Georgia: Read 6, Whitelock 5

Vs Argentina: Read 7, Whitelock 4, Retallick 2, Kaino 2, Carter 1, McCaw 1, Cane 1

Vs Australia: Read 5, Whitelock 2, Vito 1, McCaw 1

Vs Australia: Read 4, Kaino 3

Vs South Africa: Read 3, Messam 1, Retallick 1, McCaw 1

Vs Argentina: Read 1, Kaino 1, Retallick 1

Vs Samoa: Read 4, Whitelock 3, Retallick 1

So in 11 test matches last year, Retallick took 8 balls off of the lineout. Vito also took 8 (the Naimbia game just isn't posted here). Whitelock, Read and Kaino all took far more lineout ball. If you are defining using Retallick in the lineout as Retallick taking less than 1 lineout ball per game, then you are right. I don't think most people would define it like that.

I don't know if it was you, but I had the exact same debate with someone last year and I posted the figures from 2015 which showed the exact same thing. I don't know how someone could have watched the All Blacks over the last few seasons and think that Retallick is regularly used at the lineout multiple times per test; he just isn't. As I have stated, I don't think this has anything to do with Retallick's skill at the lineout.
-

Anyway, the point is that Fatialofa can play lock even if he is bad the lineout provided that we have at least two lineout options in the team (which we do in Read and Kaino/Luatua). Of course, it doesn't matter because the Hurricanes lineout has functioned very well this season (when Matu'u isn't throwing). Fatialofa probably shouldn't make the All Blacks anyway.

-

I wasn't aware Retallick debuted in 2015... Oh wait he didn't. Here's that same silly list for 2014:

vs England: Whitelock 3, Kaino 2, Retallick 1
vs England: Retallick 7, Kaino 3
vs England: Read 6, Retallick 3, Whitelock 1, Tuipulotu 1
vs Australia: Whitelock 3, Read 2, Retallick 2, McCaw 1
vs Australia: Whitelock 5, Retallick 3, Read 3, Messam 1
vs Argentina: Read 8, Retallick 3, Messam 2
vs South Africa: Read 4, Luatua 2, Retallick 1, Thrush 1, McCaw 1
vs Argentina: Read 3, Retallick 2, Kaino 2
vs Australia: Read 7, Whitelock 2, Retallick 2, McCaw 1
vs USA (bench): Read 5, Thrush 2, Vito 2, Tuipulotu 1
vs England: Read 4, Kaino 1, Retallick 1, Whitelock 1, Tuipulotu 1, Messam 1
vs Wales: Read 4, Retallick 2

So in 12 tests (11 starts, he had a tiny cameo from the bench vs USA), he took 28 throws. Sure looks to me like he takes lineout ball for the ABs.
-
Recorded game and just watched replay.

Awesome win! But Beauden nearly fooked it again with the kicking.

Few quick points.
-Corey Jane is back. He had a great game. Proctor was lively too.
- A Smith had a shocker.
- J Savea is a disgrace. I don't think he should get picked for the ABs until the RC. His lil bro was awesome.
- I think I could live with Lima at 10 for the ABs.
-Laumape is a unit and a half.
