I’m probably going to get shot down for this but something about Vai’i at 6 reminds me of a certain Mr Kaino.
Yeah I was wondering if he has a future at 6. Looks like has some promise there.
He’s done the hard work when needed but also made good decisions and shown nice touches. Still looking fresh at 80 minutes as well.
BTW I am thinking young Kaino not the fully fledged legend version.
I’d be happy to see him continue there. -
@crucial bit early for my liking to be making those comparisons ,looks no better than Scott Barrett playing in a 6 jersey at the minute
One thing he has got in his favour is an All Black coach who has no idea what he is doing so he will probably get used as a 6 -

@crucial yeah young Kaino wasn't that slow! Still, he's got 4 years to develop into AB style Kaino...
Exactly. Scott Barrett will never get better at 6 than he is now. I think Vai’i has plenty of room to grow.

I've noticed this season that Lord is quite solid. Maybe black is slimming but I thought last year he looked quite skinny. Does well in contact too.

Yeah definitely plays above his size, which is refreshing in NZ rugby. Like Nankivell.

Nice to see Reihana chipping in - is he a 15 usually?
A 1st 5 who can play 15. Reihana played fullback against the Crusaders when he subbed on.
As to Vaa'i, he used to play a bit at no.8 for Wesley because of his mobility. Given he is still just 22 he can continue to get some extra mass on him.
Finally we are seeing what McWhannell offers, now that he is staying fit.
-
@machpants Well every single player except for McClutchie is eligible to play for an island nation so I would say that they aren't all kiwis and that there is a purpose for having them there.
I'm sure PI rugby is happy to have a team involved and I don't see the harm with having them there.

I've never thought of Nankivell as a smaller midfielder, he's about 1.88m and 100kg. Is that small now?

Haven't read the thread, maybe this has already been mentioned but fuck I'm sick of the comms trying to talk up MP. They're pissweak - barely NPC level - and some more hidings are-a-coming. Yet the commentators wank on about MP being able to "unleash their firepower" and referred to Enari and McClutchie as "incredible firepower" off the bench. FFS. They have a couple of former Wallabies well past their best and a whole pile of fringe Super level players ie guys who hadn't been able to make a NZ squad or were at best third choice in their position if they did. It's going to be a long season for them, unless they have some blokes to come in that I'm not aware of.

Pissweak like we would imagine a sixth NZ franchise would be, no surprise
