Not that he'll play for Southland any time soon, but it's great if players stay loyal to their home province (or province where their career started), no matter whether they're a team at the top or at the bottom.

No reason to leave. Mitre 10 cup is an audition for Super Rugby. If you already have a contract, you may as well stay put. I assume for most players it depends on their living situation. i.e. if you play for the Hurricanes and own/rent a house in Wellington, it makes sense to play for Wellington rather than Shield Snorters. If you are good enough to be an All Black, then you should stay with your original province.

MacLeod makes some interesting comments about the relationship between the Highanders and Southland compared to what the Blues are now doing with their provinces.
“We get a wee bit of love from the Highlanders but not a lot. [The Highlanders] are more inclined to go elsewhere, where the Blues are more inclined to help the Northlands, North Harbours, and Aucklands to build their group.”

Meanwhile the Canes are "Wellington now, Wellington tomorrow, Wellington forever".

It pretty damning really, you look at the Crusaders as the template and one of the the things they have done it help turn Ta$man into a powerhouse, 2x string local unions has to be good for us...not sure why we're not copying...can just be because Nelson is a nicer place to live than Invers

dont get me wrong, im glad...but resigning guys that failed to get us promoted last year is the least we should be doing

@kiwiwomble The irony is that Roger Clark is the former Southland CEO so would have an understanding of how Southland has been treated previously.

Solomona has signed for the remainder of the Super Rugby Pacific season as a replacement player for the Highlanders, and he will then **join North Harbour for their NPC campaign**
dont know if this has slipped under the radar?

Waikato AGM last night.
Reading the article the inherited legacy debt of $2M+ has finally been repaid.

@bovidae No news has leaked out from the Wellington AGM that, if it has not already been held it can't be far away, there is bound to be serious questions aimed at the financial accounts from what I have been told. Apparently the final figure is so far away from being printed in black that the darkness of the shade of the colour that has to be used is still being worked on.

@kiwiwomble pretty sure he signed in Jan? Similar time Moorby and Apoua signed for Notthland...expect he will thrive there, the Gregory in super last year and Gregory in NPC were totally different players, IMO our coaches were the issue.
