Crusaders scrum goes better after a couple changes. Is it better because of those changes? As a wing, I have no idea. Chiefs have mixed things up too.

@bobily2 Not sure whether the Crusaders U20 scrum has become stronger or the Chiefs U20 pack weaker. Maybe both?

Another try to Kemara! The Chiefs' have a real prospect there! A really good 10!

Hard to tell. I believe Moli isn't a specialist prop, and has often played hooker at the top level. So my theory is that Olly Ryan is an improvement there.

Crusaders James White's kick charged down, but did the Chiefs player really ground it? It's hard to see, both players claim it, the Chiefs' 21 (Te Aonui Wharawhara-Muriwai) gets the try. It's a pity there's no TMO.

    Chiefs U20 31 - 29 Crusaders U20.

    Chiefs U20 31 - 29 Crusaders U20.

History tells me we'd get just as poor a decision with the TMO, but take 5 mins doing so 😉

The Crusaders reserve halves are a clear step down from the starters.

Correction: the 22 hasn't replaced Parker, who is still on the field. He's now going to take a penalty kick, which could decide the game. ....

    It's full time!

A really good, close game! A very good watch.

The teams were a good match. Both teams still have to address inaccuracies and handling errors, but both will be hard to beat by the others.

    FT: Chiefs U20 31 - 32 Crusaders U20

I would pay more attention to @Stargazer as I was multitasking.

For the Crusaders, I thought Jack Parker and Fletcher Anderson were the best players out there. Anderson made some good ground, and Parker has a decent boot and also had a hand in a couple tries. George Bell is obviously handy, Macca Springer can create a try out of nothing, and Olly Ryan made a difference in the scrum (again, this is the perspective of a wing - I'm still guessing).

Jamie Hannah has beefed up a bit and still looked pretty mobile.

For the Chiefs, Tahu Kemara was the obvious standout. Cody Nordstrom had some handy runs, too. I think that's about all I've got.

    @bobily2 I think you're spot on.

For Chiefs U20, Kemara was a real stand-out and it looks like the Chiefs have a good 10 for the future.
I thought Veveni Lasaga, Austin Anderson and Cody Nordstrom went well, too.
At times, the Chiefs U20s game looked a bit messy. Too many knock-ons. Need to clean that up.

For the Crusaders U20, also the 10 - Jack Parker - was very good, Fletcher Anderson went well, and Macca Springer scored the try of the game. The Crusaders line-out didn't go too well in the first half, and I'm not sure what the problem was. The scrum was already dominant in the first half, but gained in strength in the second. Influence of Olly Ryan, but possibly also Fiti Sa and/or Taya Brown, who look quite big and strong. Reserves backs looked a big step down, however.

Really disappointed with Lennox in this game. He was one of the Chiefs development players but his distribution was very average. Wharawhara-Muriwai looked much better. Kemara played really well, but will be disappointed with those last 2 conversions. I was expecting Lucas Cashmore to start. The Chiefs captain (Curtis Palmer) also wasn't playing. Maybe both are injured.

After talking up Havila Molia previously, he was another who never fired a shot. In fact the Chiefs scrum looked best when Tupaea was at LH, and even TH. I thought that Jaden Kingi played well. He won quite a few of the Crusaders lineouts. The Chiefs left a lot of points on the field with poor passing or handling errors. Impatience and a lack of accuracy seemed to be a theme with all teams.

Kemara apparently has a touch background and it shows. Some good stepping - throws some nice passes.

He is also a gun sevens player. Watch any of the Condor sevens footage over the last few years. Give Taha some time and space and he'll run past you all day.

I was wondering if Brial was the son of and it appears he is. Seems a side (edit: solid) unit. What is his story? Why is he over here? Links to NZ or just came over here to get a rugby education?
