thank you for the double quote
Some people are like an old TV set, they need a slap to get them working.

Virgin Witch (1972)
Chanced upon this on a vintage TV channel. Has Vicki Michelle from 'Allo 'Allo. Crap plot and no-one here will look for it.
But it has loads of great boobs....

I’ll keep an eye out for this one. Looks promising.

Original top gun, watched in prep for the new one…shit that’s a fun flick, not going to talk about if it’s good or not…just great fun to watch

Top Gun Maverick: Good fun blockbuster movie, lived up to the hype I've been hearing about it. Only issue I had with it was they didn't really have the time to properly develop the younger characters as the focus was mostly on Maverick. But I reckon they could do a sequel focussing on them. The jet footage is pretty awesome too.
Chip and Dale: Good fun live action-animated movie about Chip and Dale the Rescue Rangers. Was recommended this by at least 3 mates with kids so decided I'd give the first 10 minutes a watch. Up there with The Mitchells vs the Machines and the Lego Movie as an adult friendly kids movie.
Andy Samberg and John Mulaney play Chip and Dale (except the other way round).
Disney basically brought the right to every IP out there and put them in this movie as a joke. Mild spoiler to illustrate, Sonic the Hedgehog is a character, but the one from the trailer that everyone hated - Ugly Sonic.

caught this quirky film the other day, well shot, well acted, great cast with loads of cameos, many humourous moments.
Sort of shot in cartoon style, it is a series of short stories centred around a French Magazine editor (Bill Murray). Might not be everyones type of movie and I was a bit unsure but ended up quite enjoying it.would give it four frescoes out of five revolting students
So you liked the latest version of The Wes Anderson film.

@Nepia maverick probably delivers on the hype more than any other blockbuster in a long time.
Good fun, predictable watch with some genuinely good comedy.
I haven't seen the original since it first came out. It may be because I saw it in Orleans and my French isn't very good but Maverick didn't seem to have the bucket loads of homo-eroticism of the first TG.
Bloody hell the flying sequences were awesome. Definitely need to see it on the biggest screen available.
I thought the young guns cardboard was cut out adequately.

Top Gun Maverick
I started my experience by watching Top Gun. Still a very good film, it was good to recap the story where it all began.
CF Jr had seen TGM and raved about it so I was expecting a lot. And as DM said the movie doesn't disappoint. It uses the original soundtrack, in a Star Wars like manner. Great that they used one of the original film's iconic songs. The story had a bigger mission as its centrepiece, which provided for a great finale. Lots of nods to the old film, plenty of action, and the theatre got a bit dusty ##spoiler
when Mav and Goose's son made up
##endspoilerAn all star cast, Val made an appearance, and Jennifer Connolly looked hawt as usual. 5 beach football touchdowns out of 5 impossible missions

Really ? I haven’t thought she’s looked too decent lately.
Not being the biggest fan of the original I won’t be rushing to the movies to see this.
Back to JC……..here are a couple of pics about 30 years apart……for some reason I preferred her when she was younger…..

No excuse for her tits falling off. That’s what I was referring to
They're still there, they're just spread to her belly button

I wasn’t having a go at her for being older. What kind of chauvinistic pig do you guys take me for ?
I was merely talking about her tits.

So, I've completed my annual Oscars Best Film nominations watch, here is my ranking of them from worst to best in case anyone is bored at work at the moment.
Licorice Pizza: As I noted earlier in the thread, I can’t stand this film. But @MiketheSnow said it better than I can:
Was hoping they all went off the cliff as the truck was freewheeling backwards.
I really disliked the performances of the two leads which doesn’t help. Boogie Nights, Magnolia, and Punch Drunk Love seem a long time ago now. 2/10Power of the Dog: Well, the NZ scenery was nice, but not much of a movie, all style over substance. Sorry Jane. Cumberbatch did his best DDL, and also stars real life couple Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons (Landry from Friday Night Lights) so lots of method acting going on. 5/10
West Side Story: I’m a fan of live theatre musicals, but I’m not a fan of film versions. Saw this with my Mum over xmas break as she loves the original. Was ok, but it’s still a film version of a musical. 6/10
King Richard: Feel good movie, easy viewing but that’s about all. Will Smith was pretty decent playing a fairly annoying character. A good support cast of the two young actors playing Venus and Serenda and John Berenthal as a tennis coach. 6.5/10
Don’t Look Up: Not as good as The Big Short, but still a fun-ish black comedy with some big stars. The credit sequence on the new planet had me in hysterics. Meryl Streep was hilarious as lady Trump and Leo and Jennifer Lawrence play scientists. 7/10
Nightmare Alley: This was the nominee I was least looking forward to as I thought it was a horror and the fish fucking movie put me off Del Toro. Anyway, it’s not a horror and there's no fish fucking. It’s actually a good drama-thriller. Was a little bit predictable in parts but the design of the film and cinematography is great. Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Willem Defoe, and Rooney Mara star. 7/10
Drive My Car: A three-hour Japanese movie about staging a play – kind of. I really did not expect to like this and set aside three separate times to watch. I watched it in one sitting and it was weirdly interesting. Some Japanese, Korean, Chinese-American etc people star. 8/10
Dune: Great version from Villinenue which did really well so the second movie is being made. Thankfully! Timothy Chalemet, Oscar Issac and Jason Momoa were all good. 8.5/10
Belfast: A movie about the Troubles that some might find schmaltzy, but I didn’t think it was. Directed by Branagh and partially based on his childhood. I think that either this or The Power of the Dog will win the Oscar. I hope it’s this. Jamie Dornan was good as the Dad and Ciarn Hinds was a crack up as the grandfather. 8.5/10
Coda: Kind of crazy that a movie from early in 2021 and released on AppleTV+ has received a best picture nomination. This is my favourite of the nominees. Was much funnier than you’d expect for a movie about the issues of growing up hearing in an all deaf family. Sign swearing is a crack up. Wont win anything and it was B/S it didn't receive a best actress nomination. 9/10
I watched Coda last night. Borderline couldn't stand it. Can't believe it won best film. It's the kind of cliched American film you might watch on a long haul flight to NZ. We'll have to agree to disagree but I was bored and the plot was so obvious. On this list, I've also seen Power of the Dog, West Side Story, Dune and Belfast. All but WSS I'd rate better, and WSS I'd put on a par - not as good as the 1960s version. I think I just don't like American comedies TBH.
