i for one am comforted that the right people are there, and all that is required is some changes.

of course, i would be a lot more comforted if the same people hadn't have been there late last year, and the same changes weren't needed. but, you know, the fuck do i know?

but i am not sure what people were expecting? 2 weeks until the next test, with the 2022 plans only 3 weeks old? No way they can change things now. Any changes for the next test will be minimal, in terms or players or plan. The same structural deficiencies will exist, but there will be focus on "doing the same shit but better"

Hansen ball. The same shit but better - trouble is it hasn’t been better, it’s been worse. We haven’t improved since last World Cup. Times running out to find that magic formula.

Are assistant coach changes actually happening?
Or was this not the time to announce this?
    Confused.

Sounds like they're working through the HR processes. Hopefully the feedback received in the last few days has made it clear who isn't doing their job to the required level. Especially those who haven't improved from last year.

Absolutely, pretty hard to fire someone anywhere without a payout unless you demonstrate sustained failure of your KPIs and no improvement. While it may seem obvious to us what failure looks like, what is written in their own objectives might not be so black and white. They will be walking through the process and ticking all the boxes to legally fire someone minimal payout

SA paying $2.75 to win the RC. Get on it.

Not sure about that but I will be backing the Wobs to win the Bledisloe if Cooper is fit again.

Only 2 bled games this year, one at Eden park, Oz need to win both. Even foster follies will probably retain the bled. My prediction, 2 losses Vs SA, shared games Vs Oz and Arg. World ranking 7th by the end

Not surprised at all mate, I always suspected he would get back in, as I have said we need a six who carries close to the breakdown to give a target, whether he plays or not we will see, just not surprised he there.

plus replacements might have to get out out of their own contracts

realistically, what actual changes are available up front?

    Bower will deservedly stay
ST can come in to hooker
    Both our tightheads are shit
Retallick is out so Barrett in with Whitelock
Cane is captain and Ardie must start so that means a change at 6? or Save shifts to 6 and a new #8 brought in

That's it. That's what can be done.

Selecting PT and Frizzell in squad again troubles me. Lots of possible game day changes from squad and with tactics still possible. We will see.

Better option to cover lock/blindside than a proven Test failure and beater of women. Seriously, WTF are they thinking selecting him?

SENZ radio said the PR team at NZR refused to let media live stream the press conference. This is just really dumb media relations. The organisation is looking completely incompetent.

I don’t know all the ins and outs of SENZ and NZRU, but do they always live stream every team announcement?

If not, then it’s hard to see that this isn’t just more games to add to the narrative building.

All media was barred from live streaming it. From a PR perspective it is just a dumb decision.

So they took the Friday afternoon presser to the next level!

Sheesh what bright spark thought that was a good idea. No point now trying to control the message and being worried how outlets cut and dice it, you are 5 lengths back in the home straight.

My advice is that you could’ve come out of this slightly better with some in the public saying “he fronted” and there could’ve been a sympathy element if he looked awkward and under the pump for all to see.

I'd meant to reply to your post earlier saying that the only way the Friday press conference ploy could have been better was if they'd found a way to make it before a long weekend.

But full credit to them, they still found an unexpected way to raise the Friday arvo stakes...

If they're not going to play Sotutu until Argentina at the earliest, it might be good to get him some kind of game time.

Foster seems highly skilled at keeping boards happy relative to his actual performance. Good corporate greaseball who is ruining the All Blacks.
    Frizzell - for fuck's sake!!!!!!!!!!!

I reckon we will do better than that. Backs against the wall and all that.

According to me we win at least one in SA and both vs the Argies. I'll say share the Bled, games, but actually Rennie worries me.

It is a strange mix of ignorance and arrogance. I'm of a position you treat set up every media conference to be live streamed until the all attending outlets confirm they won't do it. Also, once it is live streamed, everything is stated and can't be disputed. It is the huge benefit of livestreaming.

@Tim Yeah - and actually, I forgot the key clause while I was distracted by Rennie.

We don't win RWC 2023, though.
