Kaka running his winger out of room instead of straightening, giving him the ball and working around in support.

Carter and Broughton were playing so well, so they were taken off. Turning point was the forward pass from Kapeli at 70 mins.

Yeow BOP. The midweek gamble failed miserably in the end. I wondered as the winning Northland kick sailed over whether they might fade in the end today also.
Leroy Carter had a huge match. Always a threat to the opposition. Broughton Ross and MSR great as well. They missed Narawa.
Mcwhannell and Luke Jacobson had huge games but far too many errors overall from Waikato. Bop read the passing options for Dmac very well. Well done to the defence coach. Mooloo might need a change at 15 next week. Sinkinson looked injured in second half too. Hopefully ALB is back. Leuila to 10?

As a neutral for this one, supporting both teams, I found a lot of the officials calls baffling. Perhaps there was a concerted effort from touchies and tmo not to intervene, so only what the ref clearly saw got called. If that is the reason for many of the non calls then I am quite OK with it.

What a bizarre last 15 mins. I thought Waikato was dead and buried there.

@ARHS Agree about the officiating. So much off the ball stuff ignored. That's how Sinkinson got injured in the 1st half. Not a fan of Williams at all!

Hopefully Waikato gets a few players back like Tucker, Johnstone and ALB. There was a very handy hooker sitting in the stands by me.

I heard the ref comment that there were only three cameras but he was relying a lot on the TMO to check things.

I'm a fan of less ref is good, in that if he missed the odd thing, I can live with it. I am continually hearing people saying how much they enjoying NPC, and a lot of it is because of lack of TMO needlessly or continually being involved. Talking to Aussie mate who reckons he prefers NPC tp watching even Wallabies test matches, as thinks there the odd things missed, but generally they get it right.
But anyway really enjoyed game, there was no way I could see Waikato coming back into it, and wonder a little if BOP's storm week told.

I thought that Ratima played a big part in the comeback. He brought some energy on which DMac tuned into. The connection between those two was much better and DMac had that extra moment on the ball to wait for the defence to make a decision then try and take advantage.
That first of the three comeback tries was DMac on a good day to a tee. Ball in both hands looking at options then an acceleration through two forwards and a great offload.
Ratima mixed it up quite a bit and also cleaned some critical breakdowns on the verge of isolation.
To me that extra action and energy is what had BOP's storm week problems kick in and errors start.
Will be a cracker game next week.
