I am happy that I bailed on this early.

I'd like to see a change of coach too, at least in the white ball formats.

I am unhappy that I did not bail on the game early... coffee has only gone so far today 🙂

I agree with the sentiment that Kane was let down by the bowlers last night.

Pak barely gave us any freebies, and when they did, we often missed out. I actually though considering our total was not too bad.

However, we bowled plenty of 4 balls. Can't build any scoreboard pressure when you're that loose.

When you have an under par score in a do or die match, you have to mix it up with the bowling with playing one of your slower bowlers early.

Once again Sodhi and SatNav go for less than the required RR (6.5 rpo) and our 3 quicks get tapped around for 8+, 7.5 and 9+

    Just doesn’t make any sense.

Not making any sense is the worst part of last night. Our strategic thinking is strange. How is it that when a team bowling first has shown the way to frustrate the bats we go and do something different.
Slow, slow Yorkers and wide of the crease. Make the bats have to create their shots and they will get it wrong after a while.
Boult and Southee are fine bowlers but not in these conditions. Where were the part timers with some dibbly stuff?
Kane seems to have one plan and is lost when it doesn’t work.

I don't think anyone was really suggesting dropping Kane was an option, but I do think potentially changing captains is (in multiple formats). The guy is an elite player but I am not convinced on strategy.

To be fair he was also let down by execution of other players last night too, so not lumping it on him, but I think the above is a valid conversation at least.

I'm not throwing everything on him but once Southee and Boult looked like doing nothing they should have been pulled. Kane was out there long enough himself to understand how hard batting was with slow balls. Once the boundaries started to flow it was only wickets that could be searched for. If those PP overs had gone for say 45 the pressure would be on Pakistan to swing against balls not there to swing against.

Not sure I agree with the assessment that the pitch suited the slow bowlers, we took their spinner for plenty. The biggest difference in the match was their seamers vs ours, and more specifically our best seamer Boult having a shocker while their best seamer Afridi bowled superbly.

That said, Kane should have brought Santner on sooner once the Pakistan openers got going against the pace. You have to change things up quickly in T20s or the game gets away from you. Not sure Kane / Stead combo is that well suited to the format.

Really a poor power play by NZ,with the pitch slowing up that was the time to hit boundaries with the field up.
Poor field settings when Pakistan were chasing to easy to find gaps no pressure applied.
A ridgid bowling plan which made it easy for Pakistain to plan their run chase.
And really a bad bowling effort lost length badly and not enough off pace deliveries no knuckle balls, virtually nothing out of the back of the hand.
Shit performance all round with no vision to change things up.

We saved our worst outing for last, although I felt that we had started to stall even in the games against England and Ireland
