Great 2nd 40 by the Chiefs...

    Plenty of players stepped up

Is this one of their biggest losses at home for some time?

Similar to the Highlanders win in Christchurch in 2021. That was 33-12

Did they have Mo'unga and Taylor playing that day? They are missing Whitelock, but I'm surprised that they haven't been able to get much going with the talent they had out there.

Edit: To answer my question, it looks like they all played that day.

entertaining first game... not many would have picked the margin.

BBBR and Stevenson with Cane, Webber & Ioane (he has it in him but so rarely produces it) were particularly good.

Am picking ball security will be a work on from both teams.

I wasn't particularly impressed with Moungas game tonight.

    Stevenson has been brilliant tonight.

    As has DMac.

A difference in the 2nd half is the chiefs started winning their lineout

Didn't catch much of the game but stoked to hear Brodie had a big game. Boy do the ABs need him firing this year.

That was an amazing performance by the Chiefs.

    They look stacked this year.

If Stevenson can play like that every week he'll be hard to keep out of black.

Just what the comp needed to kick off this year.

@No-Quarter Best game since super rugby 2019. Not just physical but consistently involved in the right places.

They both played. It was close to the top side

So 3 games and three loses for the Crusaders so far. But only one that matters.

Great result for SRP. Excellent 2nd half from the Chiefs.

Well fellas, I believe that's what you call super rugby! Geez that was a bloody good game. Thought O'Keeffe reffed well and kept game at fast pace too. I bet there some tired sore bodies down there!

Are there any winnable games for the Crusaders this year?

What are the odds on the Crusaders to win the spoon?

The Chiefs have learned from their 2022 semifinal defeat. Their forwards had been as dominant as they were today. But this time, their possession has been turned into points, thanks to the likes of MacKenzie and Stevenson who were outstanding.

Way too early to write off the Crusaders.

Good start for the Chiefs. Cane looks like he set to annoy a few fans this year by having a good season and not just laying down for Dalton. BBBR and DMac had good shifts too - the worrying thing going by that tweet of the three of them earlier in the thread is that the Chiefs might need all 3 on the field to be at their best.

Stevenson carry on his late season form from last year.

Anyway, good way to start the proper rugby watching of the year.

I thought McKenzie had an excellent game. Makes a huge difference with someone like this calling the shots. Keep playing like this at 1st and Chiefs will be a contender.

Crusaders will come back. Highlanders next week (home in Aust) and then Drua away. Then the Blues away.

If they don't win them all they might start to worry. But Blues away will be a challenge

Pretty solid performance from young Dyer against AB props. Did he make last year's AB B team?

I agree on Cane, he just never stopped tonight, and as you say BBBR was close to MOTM, and DMac, had a pretty mature performance and controlled game pretty well.

21 points at home is a hiding, and the Chiefs have dominated the second half. Can't remember the last time the Crusaders copped it at home like this.

Clayton has already beaten the Crusaders 3 times in his 3 seasons, Leon has only beaten Crusaders once in his 5 seasons & most of those losses have been blowouts as well. For some reason I've been in the minority but I've always rated McMillan as a better head coach than McDonald. Leon is entering his 5th season and so far has only had moderate success considering the resources that have been invested 3rd party backers etc, only in 2022 with Schmidt as his assistant have Leon's Blues look truly convincing against top opposition. I found it amusing the report Scotland were looking into McDonald, I always thought of McMillan more highly, even as far back when they were coaching in the NPC.
