My daughter has Nothing ear pods. Think she’s pretty happy with them.

I'm looking at getting a new Samsung phone, the biggest question is do I go 128GB or 256? A quick look at my current phone shows me I have only used about a third of the 128GB internal memory and I've had it for at least 3 or 4 years. Removable memory is bugger all. I know it usually makes sense to go for more data, but in this case I don't think it's worth the extra money?

Unless your installing a lot of games or storing a heap of video, you don't need much. I'm pretty good at getting my stuff of the phone and into better storage tho

Sounds like 128 to me

The Boy has a job. He's therefore got money, and no responsibilities.
In addition to buying Japanese Single Malt, he's ordering one of the above. Had the PS VR for the PS4 and it was cool, but a bit clunky and poorly supported.
$100 deposit went down today. I get 5% EB discount cards through work so it only cost him $95...

I'm now looking for a tablet/ laptop and leaning towards a Surface, but the options suck. An Intel i7 equipped version with 32GB of RAM only comes with a 1TB drive - a function I don't need when everything is cloud based. So it's 16GB only.
I had a Google Nexus 7 back in the day which was quite good. When that started to get shit I got a Samsung Galaxy Tab-A - you're right about the bloatware, which is another reason I detest the Samsung UI besides the stupid long-touch options. However for basic stuff I can tolerate it.
There is a Pixel tablet in the works apparently. https://www.tomsguide.com/news/google-pixel-tablet
I waited long enough for the vapourware that is the rumoured Google Watch.
edit - ha! coming Oct 7th https://store.google.com/magazine/google_smartwatch?pli=1&hl=en-GB
No, I don't feel at all stupid.
I wonder how useful the maps will be on the watch and if it can really replace the phone..

Yeah I'm shit at using the cloud and only have 128 and still not even close. If you download music/video might be something to take into consideration.

so, there is a new Samsung Frame TV coming soon and so the current one just dropped from $2100 to $1400 plus a free "frame"
old TV was over 8 years old, apps weren't working perfectly, not live streaming anymore, freezing etc and a few weeks ago it developed a dead pixel that i couldn't ignore
snapped up the new tv on Sunday, sold the old one for a few hundred bucks sunday avo, installer hooked up the new one yesterday, ducted the cables and everything, shit theyre a cool tv
best bit is doing a quick google and reviews of the new one were that very little had changed small technical things and some new cosmetic frame...all the reviews said buy now...result

Buying the previous model, or the runout is a good strategy

@Kiwiwomble my brother managed to grab a 75" model for $1500 because of a JB Hifi website mistake
I'm getting sick of my Samsung TV because it's no longer supported. Given the picture quality, I think I'll jump to LG's C2 which is a ridiculous price now the C3 has been released and it practically as good.
-
@antipodean how old is your current samsung? i decided 8 years of pretty much daily use was pretty good, a little annoying they change the apps and stop supporting the old ones but until the dead pixel i had just streamed from my phone when i wanted live
we have an LG before our Samsungs and they were great so probably cant go wrong, Mrs womble was just keen for the frame and it does look sick
-
@Kiwiwomble At least six years old. Some apps like Netflix sometimes requires a hard start of the TV which makes me have to get off the couch. When I try to automate everything, that infuriates the lazy IT person in me.

The C2 is good. I use a smaller sized one as my primary monitor.

I have Apple TVs for my TVs instead of onboard apps.
I had one good Netflix app on an old TV, ran well, started up quickly, seemed to find me better shows (that might be projecting), but most apps would get sluggish after a while on most TVs so I just prefer the Apple TV.

Yep, I would certainly recommend using a separate box/dongle etc for your connections. TV manufacturers will not support their software or firmware very long. Samsung are notorious for not wanting to work with third party apps (eg UK Freeview was unavailable for years on Samsungs there. Samsung simply wouldn't engage)
Apple/Google platforms have the advantage of providing a platform by which the most up to date app can run and they keep compatibility as long as possible so as not to lose the customer to a competing option.
Don't spend TV money on the 'smart' functions, spend it on the picture and sound. -

This.
When I bought my current TV (Panasonic HZ2000) in late 2020 it was all to do with the PQ. I have an AVR/speakers for sound and Apple TV 4K for the apps. Sorted.

I would say spend on what you find valuable, Mrs womble and I aren't audiofiles, never had a sound bar or even seperate speakers for a TV, havent seen a TV i would't call clear since HD became the norm or at very least since LED...where as an easy to use app built into the TV that Mrs womble can navigate with easy is invaluable
everyones different

I understand what you are saying (I run a cheap but adequate generic brand TV. I suits us fine) but bear in mind that comes with frustration after a short period as the built in app isn't supported. TV Manufacturers love you because that frustration will lead you to upgrading/renewing
My comment is pointed more toward those that do like their picture/sound quality and I guess is saying that if comparing models and prices you may be better off removing the connection software from the equation. You might get a better picture for the same money or, more likely, save some money that could get you better sound if you don't already have it.
Mrs C doesn't care at all about surround sound as we aren't big movie watchers and 5.1 type systems never appealed in the room. When I explained to her that the Sonos soundbar adjusts to the room and has speech enhancement so that she can actually hear those mumble dramas she was really interested.
