Fantastic individual effort by Burey - from inside his own half, two kicks and he grounds the ball for a try.

Awful by Stevenson though. Only caught the last half hour but it seemed a pretty poor game from him (apart from that chef's kiss kick to touch on the full from behind his 22 in the middle of the field up to 30 out from the force line).

@Bones He looked good in the first half. I missed the second.

Saw the whole game. Nah, he played well enough. Seems an important cog in the Chiefs game.

I'm probably judging him by harsh standards where I expect him to be ten times better than the pedestrian Jordan because he'll have to be.

I did not watch the game. How did the big Chiefs back row fare ? Parker must be the heaviest open side flanker in SR.

That play especially was a flashback to the casual Stevenson of past seasons, hopefully it stays a rare one.

Geez recorded that and just watched it, that was bloody impressive by the Chiefs team they put out. i have to say I thought Pohipi went ok at 10, I had wondered about moving him there. Shame about Vaií getting what looked like a knee injury, but they would be happy anyway.

Parker not so prominent but I had Finau and Ah Khoi in my top three (ALB being the other).

Wasn't a stand-out but did finish the match as the top tackler with 26/26.

Wow, shows how someone can go under the radar if they don’t do any show out plays.

If he was doing that work it probably freed Finau and NAK up a bit

Too late for me to watch live so I've just watched the replay. A solid effort, especially on defence, from that team.

Hopefully the injuries aren't too serious but we have some depth at lock and in the midfield. The 23 that will play Qld seems obvious.

Parker isn't a 7 so was never going to play like a traditional openside. The workrate of the loosies was excellent though.

I've got to add that Tahuriorangi was very good in his 50th game. He might have a SR future yet.

Strong all round from Chiefs. Stevenson looked a bit casual and made a few errors so needs to sharpen up again but always an attacking threat. Hoping Thompson and Ratima focus on accuracy as both energetic but make unforced errors. Poihipi ALB Ah Kuoi Finau Parker Norris and TTT all had a great match. Coombes Fabling played well too. I would prefer he and Poihipi off bench next week.
I guess focus into finals will be on reducing error rates that give opposition attacking opportunities. Defence is great but too much in own 22 risks cards.

I expect Poihipi and Ioane to be the back reserves, unless Nankivell can't play. Then Poihipi slots in at 2nd 5 to partner ALB. Rona could be in the 23 jersey then.

And sums up why we not always good selecting off tv screens. I always think anyone who wants to see how good players are watch them live. Sam Cane is one who always springs to mind for that too.

There's definite influence from commentators. Even if you avoid the hyping or overcalling for excitement, you do notice when a players has their name called. I didn't hear Parker being called much at all. Maybe the commentary team didn't know his name? 😉

They seemed to only call a few players. I spent fucking ages trying to work out who was ten because they didn't say Poihipi's name for about twenty minutes or something.

Or you could have checked the team list on page one of this 3 page thread.
