I would much prefer a Top 5 finals system both because it creates an incentive to finish on top and also doesn’t cheapen the finals.

    Week 1
    1st have a bye

2nd play 3rd in the Qualifying Final, with 2nd getting home field

4th play 5th in an Elimination Final, with 4th getting home field. Loser eliminated.

    Week 2
Major Semi Final: 1st plays the winner of the Qualifying Final at 1st’s home ground. Winner goes straight through to Grand Final.

Minor Semi Final: The loser of the Qualifying Final will host the Winner of the Elimination Final at their home ground. Loser eliminated.

    Week 3
Preliminary Final: loser of the Major Semi Final and the winner of the Minor Semi Final.

    Week 4 - Grand Final
Winner of the Major Semi Final versus the winner of the Preliminary Final.

@ACT-Crusader Hats off to Christie, he's playing better than I thought he could....but yeah it's the Drua I guess (he looks to have bulked up throughout the season).

Pretty sure he’s played all games bar one. And has gone the distance in all those games. Been much improved at this level.

But, just like with Taylor, it shouldn't come at the expense of better players.

Yeah, it's a tricky one for coaches to manage and get the balance right. Taylor came good last year so hope Foster and Robertson can perform the same trick.

That was the shittest trick, I'd prefer they actually tried to win.

I don't like those systems - it gives teams too many chances and creates too many anti-climatic games with not much on them. A good format would be a top 6 with teams 1 and 2 having a bye in the first week.

Except byes are often detrimental, due to loss of momentum. I hate byes

    Or the text version:

    1 Tamaiti Williams
    2 Codie Taylor (vc)
    3 Oliver Jager
    4 Scott Barrett (c)
    5 Quinten Strange
    6 Sione Havili Talitui
    7 Tom Christie
    8 Christian Lio-Willie
    9 Mitchell Drummond
    10 Richie Mo’unga
    11 Leicester Fainga’anuku
    12 Jack Goodhue (vc)
    13 Braydon Ennor
    14 Dallas McLeod
    15 Will Jordan

    16 Brodie McAlister
    17 Kershawl Sykes-Martin
    18 Reuben O’Neill
    19 Zach Gallagher
    20 Ethan Blackadder
    21 Willi Heinz
    22 Fergus Burke
    23 Chay Fihaki

Fainga’anuku, Taylor and the back row were superb.

Scott Barrett was outstanding too. Encouraging display from Goodhue as well.

Only caught the first five minutes then watched the highlights...

Was Leicester Fainga'anuku not massively offside in the lead-up to the first try? Referee said the Drua player had put him onside by running forwards but Fainga'anuku had already crabbed across field to put himself in a position to tackle. Seemed like a very strange (non-)decision.

Anybody pick up whether Jager got himself injured? I saw him looking like he was hurt at the bottom of a ruck. Never saw him on screen again and he was subbed a few minutes later.

@Crazy-Horse He has done well to comeback the way he has this season as he was not supposed to play at all this season due to the injury he sustained last year. What is the story with Ethan?

Defending champions through after playing with 13 men in final 10 minutes against Drua due to injury crisis.

To play with 13 for the last 10 minutes really made a statement.

The ABs are fucked if that happens. That would mean a lot of first choice ABs failed to get the job done at Super Level.

A pretty good statement there, yes.
