    Well at least we've beaten NZ once this year at something.

    I don't think this NZ team is as talent devoid as feared though - both starting props were excellent

    Agree. I thought a number of the forwards put their hands up. The play of the backs was the main problem.

    @ACT-Crusader

    Lakai led well too. That will hold him in good stead.

    Ref was weird.

    I’ve not been impressed with Hotham , just shows you what an armchair ride he gets at the Saders ..

    I don't think he played very well for the Saders. I was very disappointed in him. From what I can tell he lacks speed, so the rest of his game is going to have to be smart and error free which he hasn't consistently shown yet. It might come as he matures.

    Having now watched the game NZ did well to hang in there with 14 players, and even 13 at times. It was easier when they had possession but a big problem when defending out wide due to lack of numbers.

    Some key attacking lineouts lost too.

    @KiwiMurph

    Is that not Xavi Taele at centre late change

    No, Aki Tuivailala started at centre. Xavi Taele replaced Gordon as a sub, and then got sin-binned.

    He struggled at times for Ta$man too. The Hawkes Bay game in particular

    He's young and may come right. I've never understood the why a couple of TSFers rate him so highly though

    I was happy the Crusaders nabbed him after the U19s last year. He looked handy for them. Since then I have been a bit dispappointed. But like you say, he is still young.

    Is he slow or looks slow because he is tall for a halfback ?

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/300926032/baby-blacks-lock-tom-allen-suspended-for-ugly-tackle-on-aussie-flanker

    Having considered all evidence, the committee decided the offence warranted a low-end entry point of six matches, which was slashed in half due to maximum mitigation.

    The Hawke’s Bay lock will miss New Zealand’s clash with Georgia on Sunday, when the Baby Blacks will play for lowly seventh to cap what’s been a disappointing campaign.

    Allen will also miss the Magpies’ NPC pre-season matches against Auckland and Waikato this month.
