Discipline is still a massive worry. 12 penalties conceded against a poor side like Namibia is a terrible stat.

Not sure why this continues to be an issue. Perhaps the coaches are far too nice and the players don't fear them. Drop serial offenders for a game and I bet they don't do it again. Whatever it is they better fix it fast.

Because foster thinks their discipline is fine, even good

“We knew people expected us to win, and sometimes those games can get loose on you and you can start searching for stuff. I liked the discipline. It came off the platform of doing some basic stuff consistently well up front.

12 penalties to 7, and a red card versus tier 3 side is pleasing discipline in the foster zone

The same article mentioned David Havili was a “bright spark” in midfield.

Against a team with a World Cup 259 points for 1388 against record…..21 games without a win but a weather effected draw with Canada in 2019.

Yeah, I didn't talk about the ridiculous opinions in the article, I just quoted Foster directly. He thought the midfield 'grew into the game' - ie once Ioane was on it improved

Except for that amazing pass to grass 15m out from our line

But the starting midfield was average. Nothing glaringly bad, just nothing good given the level of opposition. If you can't shine in this game you are doing nothing against Ireland

I have been one of the bigger ALB fans on this board, but he's evolved in to Aaron Mauger, good in theory, not in practice

    He looks cooked doesn't he?

I'm still surprised he hasn't taken the NH megabucks considering the way he's been mucked about with over the years by the selectors.

Kepu talks well. Roigard to start, was he makes the opposition have to think. Must be after his bed time tho

That is the boss move. Throw in a kid with obvious talent who the opposition teams have barely seen

I said it in another thread. Lets show them something they haven't seen before...DMAC, Roigard, (Stevenson). We are victims of our own success. They have so much film on Aaron Smith and Beaudy and Ardie et al. They know them better than they know themselves.

Another Foster failure. Only a coaching clown would pick his best, most experienced players..... 😎

    Hey stats guys

I know Namibia didn't have a lot of ball, but even when they did I didn't see us make any impact on their ruck. Did we win many turnovers? And who? We just seem to not have an outlet to turn over ball at the moment.

ABs got two ruck turnovers but like you said Namibia didn't have much ball (only 42 rucks)

There's a 'turnovers won' stat for individuals but it doesn't specify ruck turnovers. There were 5 of those: Ofa, Ardie, Coles, Vaa'i & Mo'unga

Ofa, Ardie & Richie also get credited with a 'tackle turnover won' each which I guess is a subset of the other list

So I presume it means Coles & Vaa'i got one ruck turnover each

It is meaningless in this game because of the lack of rucks. The tackle counts of players was a about 1/3 a normal match

So, Roigard scores a brilliant 70m individual try against the Boks, is man of the Match in his 1st start. And Christie is bloody average at best.

Let's see just how stubborn Foster is.
If he picks him, it's a tacit admission, he got it wrong by persisting with Christie.

    Can't win can he?

Jesus, just soft-ball it in there, why don't ya?

Hmm, perhaps only something "gotten" by watchers of Archer.
They regularly use the term "you're just going to soft ball it in there?", when somebody's said something setting up an obvious joke/gag.
    Like ....
    "Foster ..."
"He just can't win, can he?"
....setting up some wag to come back with something like...
"Well, no, judging by the last 4 years", or some such.

No, literally the poor prick can't win.

Leaves out Roigard: idiot who needs to make excuses.

    Unpopular opinion:

Dane Coles is our best hooker right now. Discuss.

@booboo ST certainly well off his 2022 form, as is CT, but his 2022 form was largely poor so only way was up...

Coles has surprised me, thought it was a poor choice taking him.

I saw this on twitter. It's scary when you see all the names listed down. We have so much top class talent playing overseas.

Think the CT/ST split works well but Coles has looked sharp and up for it. Good to have some competition for the slot.

As an aside, Sami T seems to have gone backwards in the last year. Was outstanding at lineout throwing but has had wobbles recently and does he look just a bit less mobile than last year?
