The rain that has threatened off and on over the last week has arrived this morning. Which is a bugger, but it may spare further embarrassment of our top order and batting coaches tonight.

Sunday arvo for Game Three may be showery too.

I might be wrong and they may get a start after all. No rain to speak of since about 11am, and just had the kids up in the College nets for an hour. Quite damp and no bounce there, but Bay Oval should have drained well.

Just saw this comment on the Legend of Marty Banks page:

I’m in Tga currently not raining but very cloudy and muggy ! If there’s play it’ll be swinging more than a 70s house wife

I’m picking a real ‘paper over the cracks’ type hiding tonight. Someone’s big hitting will come off and Bangladesh will cower in submission

Wait, what, The Black Caps lost the toss? No way.

No surprises, it’s one of the few certainties in life, right up there with death and taxes.

Lots of ranga facial hair in the Black Caps team. That warms my heart.

Craig McMillan dressing like it’s mid winter in Southland, not mid summer in Mt Maunganui.

Finn Allen smashes a wide half volley straight down the cover fielder’s throat.

    12-1 from the first two.

Siefert also collected square in the head from a powerful Mitchell straight hit.

Ouch, it’s gotta hurt, but he’s still out there.

Lousy weather, but humid rather than cold here. Finn Allen continues his rocks/diamonds run with another rock.

Daryl Mitchell batting more like Henry Nicholls than Henry Nicholls himself.

If he focused on his batting as much as he seems to have worried about the weather in the last few overs, Daryl might not be batting so slowly.

Well he’s got his wish, looks shite up there.

But two batsmen in batting under 100 is not good. If they get out there again they need to take some risks.

11 more overs than I thought we'd get tonight at least. Think it will be an on-off-on-off from here on in at best.

Worst I've ever seen Mitchell bat. It's like he's batting with a 1980s bat that doesn't have a sweet spot covering 90% of the bats surface.

    Very apt description.

Or perhaps he just hates rain ?

    Rain radar is ominous.

Think the Umpires had it right in trying to stay out there. It's the sort of weather where once you are off its hard to get a good clear window to get the covers off again and resume.

Saved by the rain, though if they get back out there and ends up a 10 over game we’re fucked.
Bangladesh will chase this down at a canter.

No run chase happening tonight. A shame, as it was looking like a good matchup.

First time seeing Sears bowl. Based off one over, but I thought he was supposed to be fast. Mid 130s is what he was bowling. That's not fast. Also looks a but awkward.
