I'd like to buy an upgrade set of headphones for use in business video calls.
Currently have a USB Sennheiser lightweight set with a boom mic that works OK, has decent sound and mic quality. However, after an hour or two, the 'on ear' headset starts to make my ears a bit sore.
I have tried a range of cheap/cheerful bluetooth headphones that I use elsewhere without a boom mic, and frankly the mic quality was consistently abysmal.
Not wanting to go top end, just buy something that will have decen mic quality, sit comfortably on my ears for an extended period and not cost the earth. Not bothered about USB or bluetooth.

Mrs Womble got these and theyre get, bluetooth direct to you phone or laptop but also have an optional dongle for a quicker more reliable connection if needed
can choose Team or UC enabled, USB A or USB C dongle etc
my day to day buds are Jabra and theyre great

@nzzp I had some Jabra ones which were excellent for noise cancelling but they had an issue with disconnecting form my phone and my laptop (other people had similar issues with thiers too)
Recently had a roll out of Yealink BH72 ones, which are good, not quite as good with the noise cancelling and also the mic 'extension' that slides out form the head set, feels like a breakage ready to happen, so far connectivity is pretty good.

I can understand the sentiment about not wanting to pay too much but after going thru several medium level and better, especially Senheisser, headsets, I decided to get something better.
After trawling thru many reviews of many different headsets I decided on the Sony WH-1000X M3 (now superceeded by versions M4 and recently M5.
I can definitely say that the $$$ I paid for the M3 was well worth it. The sound, the noise cancelling and most importantly the comfort were worth the extra dollars. I've comfortably worn those headphones for 6 plus hours on a flight.
I use them for work, too many bloody hours of Teams meetings, gaming and when I travel, on a plane, train and boat with my phone or tablet.
Nothing better than excellent noise cancelling when on a flight which I had no idea of until the first time I used the M3's on a plane.
A quick check on the interweb, I see that the price of the M4's has come down with the release of the M5. Sub $400 AUD for the M4's versus RRP$550 AUD for the latest M5 editions.

Depending on where you're doing your meeting, the older version jabra 510 speaker allows you go to hands free in teams etc, which i use mostly now to prevent sore ears!
I do have jabra headphones as well for work

Had the iabra talk style mono headset and loved that until it fell apart - looks like they've changed the design so that wouldn't happen anymore. Was always easy connection and good sound, never had any complaints about sound from my side - plus ears didn't overheat after 20 minutes!
Now have iabra evolve, which work fine when they work, but as I'm not using the dongle, teams seems to forget they exist every couple of days forcing a restart (although that may be more to do with my laptop/teams than the phones).
I've got some Sony wf-sp800n and only used them once on a call, which worked perfectly fine, so might be a good option - love them and you can use each bud independently too.

Over ear is the way ahead, buds second in comfort to that IME. Sort from when is really hot and sweaty

@Machpants everyones different, i have some over ear audiotechnica ones with a detachable cable for travelling so i can switch between my phone and onboard screen....but in general i find buds much more comfortable, i find over ear eventually put pressure on my jaw

@Kiwiwomble got a Bluetooth dongle with airplane adaptor for the recent flights back home, do it! Pretty cheap and so much better than cords.

@Bones yeah, ive seen thoughs and definitely thought about it, i think i had just bought the AT ones with the justification they had the detachable cable so would be handy for travelling...mrs womble already gives me shit about headphones as i went through like 4 (fuck skullcandy) in a year over a decade ago and dont want to give her any amo...next time i update i'll definitely do it

I have Jabra and they are truly superb. Long battery, NC is brilliant and I can happily sleep wearing them on planes.
Thread hijack but anybody got good exercise bone conduction recommendations? I tried my friends out and the quality was pretty good but I prefer a bassier sound.
