I still remember watching the 1994 NBA finals and ESPN interrupted the live coverage to show the chase of the Ford Bronco.

@Victor-Meldrew Grimmett moved to Sydney before WWI. NZ did not play its first test until 1930 by which time Grimmett was almost 40 and although he played test cricket until his late 40's and first class beyond that he was a dinky-di Ocker by that stage with a family.

Tiger O'Reilly said he was prematurely dropped from the OZ test side and was still the best spinner the world had ever seen when he finally retired.

Best spinner born in NZ without a doubt but have to believe given the limited first class opportunities in NZ that he became the player he was because of his move to Aussie

Same here - was pretty surreal, I had no idea who he was at the time. Wasn’t even a decent bloody car chase, he was dribbling down the freeway the selfish prick, I just wanted to watch the ball!

Another English cricket stalwart I remember him as head of TCCB in 80's having to deal with one controversy after another - gatting/Rana, rebel tours it was a bad time plus repeat blackwashes

Dickey Betts, the singer, songwriter, and guitarist of the Allman Brothers Band whose piercing solos, beloved songs and hell-raising spirit defined the band and Southern rock in general, died Thursday morning at the age of 80. The cause was cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, Betts’ manager David Spero confirmed to Rolling Stone.

Some lovely guitar in this track. Just beautiful stuff.

    Southern Rock was so cool.

    RIP, thanks for the music

Hill made 246 first-grade appearances during spells at Manly, Wests Tigers, Western Suburbs, Eastern Suburbs and Souths.

I remember this guy well. Tough and skilful. Won a Grand final with Ridge, Toovey, Hopoate, Menzies ( geez I knew my league back then )

    RIP. Too young.

One of the best thinkers in British politics whose thoughts and ideas for reducing poverty/getting people into work and improving their life chances were way ahead of their time. Principled bloke and def. one of the good guys
