The fern was spot on. Ryan was key.

More too the point the players should have stayed out of the CEO hotel room. Or the CEO should've told then to get back in their box.

Pretty insightful stuff from the big man. Clearly he did not agree with the players going to bat for Fozz. Foster always said he felt badly treated by the way the NZRU announced Razor. Maybe so, but in almost any other high performance pro sporting setup if you lost that number of games and played that poorly I would have expected him to be fired long before Joburg

We really need Finau to move beyond a few 'smashed me bro' moments at Super level.

Smashing someone other than runty first fives would be good too

Intersting Whitelock saying he was really not that into persuading Mark Robinson to keep Foster but was sort of 50-50 going along with it, whereas certain senior players were dead set keen.

Would mean more if he'd actually done something about it.

That's tough. He wasn't opposed, was 50 50... But a leadership group should stick together if possible.

Like What ? he could hardly isolate himself from the Rest of the leadership group he had to stick with the rest of the group and support them.

That's tough mate. He risked fracturing the senior player group. After reading that excerpt it might actually be worth reading the whole thing. Sounds like he's actually got stuff to say

It wasn' that clear cut. It more like Plumtree wasn't doing his job properly.

But also it might be a bit of arse covering by Sam

If he felt the way he said in the article he could / should have expressed his viewpoint to the group (and then stayed silient re the media etc) and declined to be at the meeting

If he had asked why just no comment. As it was it looked bad for Robertson that even his SR captain didn't support a change

Regarding th meeting. Without Whitelock it meant nothing. As the others would ahve bene perceived as just looking after their own self-interest.

Your comment comes across as weak and pathetic.
    A comment about nothing.

We're talking about the bloke that played lock for the All Blacks over 150 times? Won two RWCs?

Whitelock says he actually had no opinion on who should of been coach, whether Fozzie should stay etc or go. Don't have a problem with him saying nothing.

The interesting thing he says about Plumtree and Moaar wer sacked after a group he was part of gave them bad review, so you wonder a bit.
Other thing he say is . Fozzie didn’t have enough international experience and skills in his team.
Lucky he not playing now there is vitually no international experience.
So it all looks a little confusing.

@Dan54 my take on it was that he wouldn't afford himself an opinion on who he wanted as coach, out of loyalty to the team, all the coaches involved, and the jersey

He isn't prepared to stand by an action he took. Not a leader rather than just a (weak) follower. I was disappointed when I read this

These comments on here are exactly the reason why Whitelock kept his head down.
The fault is NZR who fell short with the coach re appointment process and ongoing assessment.
Don't get me started on Silverlake.
There has been a consistent playing style so far this year by the ABs, good ball retention and building pressure.
    Silverlake will be very happy.

@Winger more think you come across like that, Sam constantly performed at the highest level and knew whatever what was required at the time

I am just pleased someone who was involved issue willing to discuss it
