@MN5 "And Jeets, wait till their second innings when they're already miles ahead and after quick runs to prove it!"

I went out on a limb for Jeets and he has let me down. He will have an angry email in his inbox when he gets back into the shed.

You're clearly outraged by his performance.....but are you offended as well ?

I was offended 5 minutes ago but then I saw a headline that Trump may have said the N word once so I'm offended by that now, and in 5 minutes time I'll find something new to be offended about.

1.18 pm Ah, India have declared, setting New Zealand a target of 475, and giving themselves four and a half-sessions to push for a series whitewash

    Sigh.

    What fresh hell is this?

Guptill rightly drops anchor while the other four blokes bat as if they have to win the game tonight, or to catch an early flight.

    Make that five.

Perhaps they have golf booked later on and don't want to miss it ?

3-0. Was hoping for at least 2-0. Stink.

Six down. Game will be over tonight.

You have to wonder what Craig McMillan offers to the side these days besides fuck all.

It's returning to Chris Martin's lament: every day is a bowling day.

    34.1
Ashwin to Patel, OUT, now he's got a five-for in each innings! That was all a bit too easy. Tossed it up. Patel plays right across the line, trying a sweep while standing up. In effect, he ushered the ball onto his stumps
    JS Patel b Ashwin 0 (2b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00

    Fuck given: nil.

Lost count of Ashwin's wicket haul by the end - was it 13? For 13 wickets you'd expect a biting, spitting cobra of a wicket and it wasn't. All he did was work through his variations and we got out to him. Reminiscent of when Vettori used to rip through the Bangles, float one up, float one up, fast straight one to catch him LBW.

Just thought I'd throw it out there.

A 321 run loss. Fuck me days that's an absolute arse raping.

Yeah, for all of Baz's flaws as a player it's not so much his leadership we are missing, but the huge fucking hole he has left at number 5. So much pressure on Kane and Rosco (who is hopelessly out of form) to score the bulk of the runs with one dodgy opener and a weak as piss tail.

This series was always going to be tough, and mentally as much as anything losing the toss in every fucking test put us behind the 8 ball. Don't forget the exact same thing happened to SA recently and they are a pretty handy team.

Once the boys get home for the summer I'm confident we'll put some good perfomances on the board. I already picked up tickets to take the boy to the ODI vs Aussie on Auckland Anniversary day so I hope they'd better find some form before then!

No excuse for the weak tail, every single bloke can hold a bat, our number 11 has a test 50 and is a very good hitter for a slight guy.

As for number 5 is it time to see what J Ryder is up to ?

Well they were happy to use Luke Ronchi there and he's hardly the future.....

According to gollum's recent reports Ryder's form has fallen away. I wouldn't want him picked again anyway.

I haven't followed the domestic stuff closely enough the last couple of years so I'm not really sure who looks like they could handle the step up, but Nicholls hasn't really impressed to date unfortunately. Hopefully we can unearth a long term prospect over summer...

    cries
Look, nobody minds when they go down fighting, but there has been a distinct LACK of fight in this batting lineup. Kane, for all his heroics, can't do it alone. On paper, this tail isn't that bad, but holy fuck, they have shown all the spine of a jellyfish in this series, and that is really disappointing. I thought those quickfire 4-5 wicket capitulations were a thing of the past, because we'd gained some mental toughness. Big giant NOPE. As someone else said, this pitch wasn't a rip snorting greenbelt, or a vicious, grooved turner. It was just our batsmen being complet fucking plonkers, and making the Indian bowlers look brilliant.
