2016 TSF Team of the Year
-
It's that time of the year again. I know you've all been waiting for it!!
The 12th (Usually*) Annual The Silver Fern Dot Com Team of the Year !!
yay! yay!
Nomination threads are set up in the TSF Competitions Forum http://www.thesilverfern.com/category/8/tsf-competitions coz I don't know where the Team of the Year forum went.
Rules are pretty much the same as usual:
-
Nominate players by position. Include your reasons for doing so. Only in the odd minority of cases will nominations be accepted without supporting argument (i.e., Beauden Barrett).
-
This is your opportunity to argue against other nominations as well. Feel free to pile in.
-
Nominated players must have played at least one test match this year. Regardless of that form in competitions below international level is still admissible as evidence in support of a nominee.
-
The Judging Committee (me) reserves the right to accept, reject or laugh hysterically at any or all nominations.
-
Any situation not covered by the above rules will be dealt with by making up further rules on the spot.
A full* list of TSF ToTYs since 2005 follows (edit: in a later post ... this one takes up too much room).
- except for 2014 which inexplicably I did not summarise and publish. D'oh.

Folks
Have updated the OP on each of the individual threads with comments gleaned from the "World XV" thread.
Will go through the threads and pick up further comments and nominees when I get back around to it.
Feel free to add pros or cons to existing nominees as necessary.
Cheers

Just wondering before I put any votes in....
Can I vote for McCaw again? He played domestically and internationally (in cinemas) and his performance was outstanding. I have watched the replay time and time again and can't find a fault.

Hey all
When I get a chance I'll update the OPs of each position with the additional nominees and aim for the weekend to convert them to polls.Given it's holidays I'll leave the polls open for say a week into the New Year (which is basically a fortnight any way) before we announce the team ... if I remember this year ...
-
I don't know why we run this. It's going to be a bunch of All Blacks, some Irishmen because they beat us (only if we can't find a stand out AB), and a token English player because they won a bunch.

@mariner4life cos we can?
Plus it'll give the Irish posters something to moan about when they don't get 15 in the starting 15

Kind of coz I enjoy it. And I do like to see who everyone thinks is the best.
And we're the best judges of who is good and who is not
FYI. kind of sad but did you know that not a single Saffa has been nominated (unless they're playing for Ireland ... or Scotland ... )

For some reason I can't convert the original threads to polls ... will have to create new ones.
May see if I can consolidate them after that.
Got to this a bit later than I intended. Will keep polls open for 10 days or a couple of weeks or so.
Feel free to vote when set up.
Cheers

Gratuitous upvote for Star Wars reference right there.

OK Folks.
I suspect we can all see the results of the polls as I'm not being bombarded to publish the results.
Am not going to go with a full on "press release" this year - as I'm not feeling particularly creative. Teams is as below.
Am a little surprised with some of the selections and there is plenty of fodder for the NZ haters and cultural cringers to whinge about NZers being selected.
Anyway - the 2016 TSF ToTY, consisting 11 All Blacks, 11 Oirish, 1 Argie and coached by a England-resident Japanese-Australian, is:
