@jegga fought tooth and nail to get a Bahraini " refugee" professional soccer player back from Thailand though.
Not one question raised as to why someone with refugee status goes on an unauthorised holiday to Thailan.
I know a refugee family very very well. UN moved them to Thailand for 3 years. In that time under the UNHCR papers he showed me, him, wife and 2 kids under 5 had to stay in a one room apartment 24 hours. We had to basically smuggle him out 2 hours down the road to play cricket for an afternoon. Couldn't take him up north for a weekend even. Never had any money, literally. Eventually the States took him and he now runs a supermarket in Seattle.
Aussie refugees apparently go on holiday to Thailand. Bullshit. -

It's all good. He can just go to Manus and Nauru and pretend to be sick. Although he may not want to go there because according to an activist physician the conditions are worse than what the Jews had at Auschwitz.

Tax dollars at work. Gender pay gap hearing. 3 minutes should be enough to see complete ineptitude. One male, a taskforce of females in this case
It never occurred to them to compare hourly wage rates to allow for one group working more hours?!
What an absolute farce. Bet those women are on stupid money as well. The dude destroyed the entire house of cards with one question. This kind of shit infuriates me.

@siam Pauline is authentically retarded.
Good point you can be a real dickhead but at least you are authentic. A lot of voters are a sandwich short of a picnic and can really relate to Hanson being authentic.

@antipodean insert something about John Howard winning despite bad polls.
It's not the polls that should concern the coalition, but the ongoing idiocy
And the people. They missed the perfect opportunity to put Julie Bishop in as leader which would have given them this upcoming election in a canter and now she has walked for good. Looks like we are stuck between either a Morrison or Shorten Govt with probably a Shorten/Greens type govt the most likely

Sure she has gently nodded and winked at it once or twice over the past six months - but she has done her best. As another former ultra-competent Liberal party deputy who didn't have the cajones (or numbers) to stage a leader coup realized...
I think in a similar amount of time Julie Bishop and her (limited) supporters will come to the same conclusion.
-
She understood she was never going to get the leadership early on, and only put her hand up in the last spill to run interference IMHO. After Dutton was rejected, we've then got Morrison winning in a Bradbury.
Which pretty much sums up our last decade of federal politics, really

I would have put the house on Shorten until this Medivac bullshit. Stupid move.

The stupidity is that ALP and LNP are basically the same when it comes to border protection. But nobody believes that any more

Almost as stupid as forgetting to pay for holidays to a company you are just about to award a $1Bn contract to

No they're not. Why do you think Labor passed that bill? Shorten is under massive pressure to placate the open border idiots in his party. They'd go back to the RAN shuttle service in heartbeat if they didn't know it would be electoral suicide.

No they're not.
Let's have a look at their boats policy - which I found simply by googling "ALP Boats Policy" and taking the top result - from their website (https://www.alp.org.au/asylumseekers) here are the first four paragaphs.
Labor's policy on asylum seekers Labor’s policy on asylum seekers is clear – we will never let the people smugglers back in business. Every time the Liberals lie about Labor’s strong position on border protection, they are playing into the hands of the people smugglers and criminal syndicates who prey on the lives of vulnerable people. Labor believes in strong borders, offshore processing, regional resettlement, and turnbacks when safe to do so because we know it saves lives at sea. This is the policy Labor took to the last Federal Election and remains our policy. Labor’s resolve on this issue is absolute – the way to Australia through irregular means by boat is closed, and it will remain so under Labor.
After that it streams off into a bunch of anti-LNP rhetoric.
Now, on that same google search are articles from The Australian saying "LABOR SAYS AUSTRALIA OPEN FOR BUSINESS TO PEOPLE SMUGGLERS!" which is patently false, and only an idiot would believe that.
Followed by a stack of articles on how the ALP say "turnbacks are here to stay".
