    Jesus - a probable America's Cup win, on St Patrick's Day - the Viaduct is gonna get messy.

    @kruse don't you fucking jinx us with that winning talk. The ghost of Dean Barker lingers.

    how cool would it be to be on the chase boat right behind the teams motoring along at up to 50-70km

    That was super. Jimmy sailed a pretty smart race until leg 5.

    One more to go!

    It's not over. But the lady is warming up

    Someone saw "Do they know it's Christmas" and tried the same without much talent to draw on? That's terrible. Absolutely cringeworthy.

    Turns out Jeremy Coney was a better singer than Cricketer

    I did a cruise on the Hauraki Gulf a couple of weekends back (the day before the latest lockdown actually). We got to a maximum speed of about 25 kn and were flying along. The AC75s are doing about twice that speed.

    @kiwiwomble It wasn't a lack of wind it was the wind direction. It brought North Head into play as a disturbing factor and meant the wind was coming from two different directions.

    Would have turned the race into a lottery. Which LR would probably have gone for. It is now clear that TNZ have a slightly faster boat. Fickle winds evens it up a bit. Spithill was trying to blame mind games with the race committee.

    As for localk knowledge - how many hours has Spithill spent on the Gulf? He got it wrong but it wasn't because of lack of knowledge. It was a fucking brain fart

    @dogmeat apparently he lost a race to Deano exactly the same way in the Christmas regatta. So no excuses for making the same mistake again. Lester said its a pretty consistent phenomenon to get a puff there

    In the press conference Bruni said he was in charge of the boat at that time but they did discuss the decision to go left amongst the three of them.

    Yup, it's on the whole afterguard. The shift must be really fickle to fool professional sailors over and over

    have to say, as a fan but not a sailor...thats just sounds like a good race. both teams still have to handle the same conditions

    @pakman

    I really want to see a race in 15-20 knots on course C so a postponement wouldn't be a bad thing. TNZ has starboard entry in both races today.

    Digression - Every day the Herald has an article - what the world is saying about the America's Cup. Does everyone else think they should stump up for an Italian speaker to tell them what is written in the Italian newspapers instead of obviously just mangling it with Google Translate?

    Embarrassing. Especially as usually the Italian media are complaining about the arrogance and bias of the Herald! 🙂
