@dogmeat @Machpants Iām definitely gonna try it.
In the last couple of weeks Iāve deliberately showed the girl I can be disciplined and save money and hence Iāve found some cheaper beer options, some of them even taste ok !
I have to try this one just for the experience, in fact fuck it, Itās 8am, I might pop off to the supermarket now and have one in the car park there.

Haven't tried it for obvious reasons but I have in the past forced the odd Tui down - at the cricket - and, based on those experiences, the review seems penetratingly accurate.
The last and only time I drank a Tui was also at the cricket. Blake Park back in the early 1990s.

Iām ashamed to say Iāve had one this year. Handed to me by the other halfās uncle at his place in the Bay, complete with a āI know youāre into that craft beer stuff but this is all I haveā
A hot day so not completely awful.

I've been seeing pics of @mariner4life yellow looking beers and they always look amazing (and kind of look like Harry Potter Butter Beers)
Finally found some and they really are delicious all appear to be Hazy IPA's

I think you needed a covid test if your sense of taste was that fucked.
To be fair I don't quite get the scorn for Tui (at least in comparison to it's peers).
Tui, Red, DB, Speights, Waikato etc etc are all pretty much the same beer with slight flavour profile differences
Because they are all awful (except when you are really thirsty on a hot day), regular drinkers accustomed to one will find the others not to their liking.
Maybe Tui is the least 'same'? -

I said ānot completely awfulā so this is hardly talking it up now is it ?

With that level of judgement I am shocked they ever let you near multi million pound pieces of highly complicated tech.
Actually come to think of it having known a few Air Farce blokes I'm not surprised at all.
As you were.

All this talk of Hazy beers, recently brewed a Fresh Wort Kit (FWK) from All In Brewing, their NEIPA.
Turned out very well, the colour, haze and tropical fruit forward taste were all on point. And at 7.88% ABV, packs quite the punch!
These FWK come in 15l bladders, this was the 2nd half of the bladder which I froze immediately after using the 1st half. Sat in the Freezer for about 6 weeks. For this 2nd batch I added more Dextrose to achieve the higher ABV and used a full packet of yeast.
As I ferment with the BrewArt Beer Droid it only does 10l batches, hence the reason for splitting the FWK. Thinking next time I might just use a full 10l of the FWK, then use the remaining 5l for one of my other brews instead of topping with plain water.
Happy with this.

@roninwc looks hazy as fark, good stuff
Thanks @nzzp and you might appreciated this given your own background with home brewing...
After brewing the above FWK, I've now moved into "All Grain" brewing. What an adventure this has been and I have to say, I love it. I've now completed 2 All Grain brew days using the Brew in a Bag (BIAB), no sparge and no chill method.
That is, using a 19l stock pot, a large paint strainer from Bunnings for the bag and a hot wort cube, I've so far completed a NEIPA and Hazy IPA. I am using tried and tested recipes sourced from YouTubers (BrewTubers as they call themselves) and adjusting for the size of the Droid being 10l.
BrewFather has helped immensely in this regard, not just for scaling and adjusting a recipe but for things like getting the right water profile using brewing salts and pH levels.
The pictures below are from my first all grain brew day. Brewing a NEIPA using almost all New Zealand sourced ingredients. All NZ hops, Motueka, Rakau and Rawaka and a 3.6 kg total Grain Bill almost all of which were NZ grains from Gladfield:
1.3 kg Gladfield American Ale Malt
1.3 kg Thomas Fawcett Golden Promise Pale Malt
0.3 kg Gladfield Big-O Malted Oats
0.3 kg Gladfield Wheat Malt
0.2 kg Gladfield Gladiator Malt (carapils)The only non-NZ ingredients are the Golden Promise Pale Malt from Thomas Fawcett in the UK, the yeast is from Canada, Lallemand LalBrew Voss Kveik Yeast and the water is from Aus.
Because of the Voss Kveik yeast, this finished fermenting in 4 days, followed by a 2 day dry hop and 2 day cold crash. Was in a keg 8 days from pitching the yeast which is excellent. Has now been in a keg in the kegerator since Tuesday. Should be well carbonated now and will have my first taste tomorrow.
Also, for those interested, Starting Gravity (SG) was 1.082 and Final Gravity (FG) was 1.021 = 8.01% ABV which is technically a Double NEIPA

@roninwc nice work! I've been playing around with BIAB on the stovetop -it's just so easy and you can clean most things by sticking in teh dishwasher.
I pointed some mates this way too; half size batches, but plenty for one person. And very low on tools/gear.
I've got a spare food grade bucket, so have been dropping teh grain in there on an inclined sieve - just lets it drain easily. I found the bag I had wanted to slump too much; yours looks much more compact. Don't be afraid to squeeze (and beware the hot wort obviously).
Are you mashing in the oven? How are you finding the hot wort cube? I just bunged mine in the sink with cold water, and got it cool enough to transfer to my freezer quickly.
Good fun
