Lots of changes for harbour in what looks like a banana skin game to me

Tasman resting or otherwise missing a few as well - notably Ainley and Strange in the second row and several from outside the squad on the bench - Ng Shui, Cirikadiveta and Hawkey.

Harbour is a team we don't have a good record against.

@chris-b This is indeed quite a list, but not the result of resting players:

There are several enforced changes to the side involved in the previous match. Locks Alex Ainley and Quinten Strange are out of commission, the latter with what could be a long-term shoulder injury. Flanker Vernon Fredericks sustained a head knock against Taranaki and is also unavailable. In the backline, winger Viliami Lolohea, sent off against Taranaki, has been suspended for three games, while veteran Robbie Malneek is injured.

@jk plus NH seem to have got a few wobbles in the past few weeks, I guess oyu could still drop this game though and be sweet.

Yeah think we are pretty safe from relegation

@stargazer Yeah - I hadn't seen any news on injuries etc, so "resting or otherwise missing".

Tima is a decent replacement for Lolohea (who I would have dropped anyway if he wasn't suspended). Not surprised Malneek is out injured - he hobbled off right in front of us after the last play of the game looking like he'd torn a calf or similar.

The two locks are the most significant losses - along with Aumua still being suspended.

Stupid ill-discipline from Harbour, giving away a penalty try. It's not surprising that Hoeata was one of the culprits. He's a penalty magnet the way he plays.

                        Christ - how's that a yellow card?

Duffie purposefully put himself in a dangerous position.

Geezus, I can't believe Joass got yellow for that. It's very similar to the Dunedin test where Retallick stood up and the Aussie player who was leaning over him fell off and landed dangerously.
This was totally Duffie's own fault. Stupid from Nutbrown to fall for that and hand out a YC.

@stargazer think refs are over using TMOs these days, often for shit they have seen but dont want to make calls on.

I try not to whinge about the reffing, but that's a try saving tackle that's gone up around the neck and then Li has dived on the player on the ground.

And all we get is a penalty.

FFS Nutbrown and the guy running the far touchline!

@chris-b I actually though Li diving on the player on the ground was worse than the tackle that slipped up to the neck. Dirty.

Could easily have carded both of them and awarded a penalty try!

We should probably be up by 35 points - but for terrible reffing.

Despite that we're up 21-0 and had a penalty try awarded, we've been shafted by the refereeing in this half.

Come on Marlborough wind - do your bit and die down!!!

Willie Lose calling a Harbour game is just as bad as Justin Marshall calling a Canterbury game. Wish he would shut up.

Man - it's lucky we won that or I would have been extremely bitter. As it is, we were ripped off a bonus point and Harbour were gifted one.

However, my main concern tonight was to avoid relegation, so job done. A bonus point would have taken us close to wrapping up a semi-final spot, so I guess Auckland and Counties fans can send Nutbrown and his sideline umpire a bouquet!!!

Also have to say young Blackadder is fast becoming one of my favourite players in ITM cup, just sat here watched him as much as possible for parts of the game and his workrate is out of this world, has he got a super contract yet?

Most of the Tasman guys went pretty well. Makalio, Frizell, Blackadder, Samu, Taufua, Guyton, Hunt and Jordan were all very good. A few silly penalties given away at times - not least by Captain Tim Perry - but, overall a pretty good performance and not reflected on the scoreboard.

Do these ex player refs get to skip all the experience gathered from years of club rugby? He just doesn't come across as confident in his own decisions at all and gives an impression of getting confused under pressure.
Maybe it was just not a great day for him (I haven't seen a lot of him this year)

Unless the directive has changed, that should have been a PT. If a player commits a foul in the act of a try attempt he is taken out of the equation. Take away the tackler and that is a try. If you commit a foul that results in a PT it is an automatic YC.
Nutbrown was looking at it only from the severity of the high tackle.
I reckon PT and possibly a restart with a penalty to Tasman for the Li offence, except diving on or sliding into a player trying to score seems to be one of those things that gets ignored by all refs.

                                                              Christ - how's that a yellow card?

Duffie purposefully put himself in a dangerous position.

                                                              Bollocks!!!!!@

Different to the BBBR situation as BBBR was just tangled and wasn't expected to foresee the consequence. In this case the player knew he had someone on his back and should have realised he would likely flip them by standing up. He could have grabbed a leg.
Unfortunately, as we have seen with the whole jumping for high kicks fiasco, players are immune from putting themselves in danger.
