It looks a very competitive Turbos lineup. Can they go 80 with the Naki?
-
Nearly 40 years between drinks over the Log for the Poo. Would love to see them take it home (even if home is PN)
-
@crucial I would like it even more if the Turbos stay in the Championship. Makes Championship games more interesting if they have something to play for, other than a semi-final spot. And I'd like the Magpies to swoop for the bling. Of course.
-
@stargazer Manawatu are definitely a chance.
You can tell, because Tasman wouldn't get a challenge against them either and it would be even less likely that we'd get a challenge against a team that subsequently took the shield off them.
-
if Manawatu did pull it off, would that be the shortest reign as holder, given the Sat/Wed turnaround?
-
@taniwharugby Yes!
-
score for us in poor rugby free Victoria?
-
@rembrandt 8 - 3 Taranaki after a penalty each and a try to Naholo for the Naki. 24 minutes played
-
8 - 6 Taranaki
-
Michael Ala'alatoa sent to the sin bin and Manawatu are down to 14. Not sure why; playing the ball while on the ground?
-
Thanks for coming Poo. Better luck next time!
(praying this doesn't come back to haunt me)
-
Great try Tamanivalu! MMac can't convert. 13-6 Taranaki with 7 minutes to go in the 1st half.

Fair call on the YC. As it was a professional foul. But the penalty quick tap leading to that, offside player handing a teammates knock on .....
Hammington knocks it on, but it then rolls backwards 2m behind the point where he knocks it on before teammate handles it.
One of for Rugby Refs forum.
Actually, after typing all that ... it occurs to me that the guy was on the ground when he handled it.
-
selfishly, I'd like Taranaki to absolutely thrash Manawatu so badly they curl up and let HB have thier way with them too!
-
Another try to Tamanivalu. Great team try. They certainly make the Turbos pay for that yellow! MMac converts: 20-6 Taranaki. 2 minutes to play until the break.

I couldn't agree more haha
-
Otere Black down; knee injury ...
-
Wish Laban would shut up.
-
Black is stretchered off. Te Rure on. Always an awful sight.
-
Naholo scores his 2nd. MMac adds the two.
Half time: Taranaki 27 - 6 Manawatu -
I like Naholo's supporting running line for that try, even though he was tailing a slow forward he didn't run so flat that he forced a forward pass back on the inside.
Lovely to see a backwards pass. Warms my cockles.
-
@stargazer I love Fauono Ken Laban.
-
@african-monkey I don't like it that he tries to sound like a rugby encyclopedia, while at the same time regularly being wrong on his facts.
-
@stargazer Oh boy. Really hope it isn't bad.
-
@tim so does Tana Umaga.
-
Naholo looking a class above, surely FirstChoice right wing for eoyt.
My man crush on Perofeta continues, I hope he can grow next year with Blues. Can really see him being a ABs 10.
Also like this Halafihi, see he was with Hurricanes this year but don't know if he played. Would like to see more of him at next level. I wonder if Chiefs might pick him up with all the departures they have had. -
@98blueandgold Halafihi was on a one year contract with the Hurricanes. He could be useful at the Blues too.
Although there was a chance his one-year deal at the Hurricanes could be extended in 2018, the 23-year-old said it was not playing on his mind as he prepared to face Wellington in the capital on Saturday.

-
I don't know whether anyone noticed, but Perofeta was replaced in the 39th minute by Ngatai. The Naki coach said in the mid-game interview that he had rolled his ankle (he didn't seem too concerned though).
-
In the mean time, Jamie Booth scored a try for the Turbos. It's 27-11,.
And now it's a try to Ngatai at the other end! 32-11 to Taranaki with the kick to come. -
Try converted: 34-11. 58 minutes played.
-
Try Ambrose Curtis. Te Rure converts: 34 - 18 Taranaki.
-
Missed tackles shown on screen:
Taranaki 6
Manawatu 22! -
There are three players absolutely dominating this game: Naholo, Tamanivalu and Halafihi.
-
Geeeeez, Riccitelli's face! Off to the blood bin, or being replaced.
-
Declan O'Donnell sent to the bin for a no-arms tackle. Surprised they didn't go to the TMO to check whether it should be a penalty try.
-
he was in front of the kicker too...
some shocking misses in the last 5 mins from the ref, forward passes, not releasing the player on the ground.
-
Jamie Booth is a handful. Try Te Rure? Going to the TMO: also to check whether a player was tackled without the ball ...
-
knock on...
-
Try Te Rure, which he converts himself. 34-25 Taranaki with just over 6 minutes to play.
